“Bridie and Seamus (can you get more Irish names than that?) were our hosts in this modern, compact house located in an upscale neighborhood of suburban Dublin: a small shopping center is across the street, a magnificent park 500 meters away and the village of Cabinteely next to the park. The village has preserved its Auld Sod character and overflows with pubs, good restaurants and it exudes Irish atmosphere. The house is within walking distance of a direct bus line to downtown Dublin--so no need for a car. Rural roads in Ireland are narrow, twisting and dangerous to the uninitiated to left side driving, so we wisely opted for trains and buses for out-of-town trips. Beside its wonderful location, the house is blessed with wonderful neighbors, Patricia and her husband, who answered our questions and saw to our touristy needs with typical Irish good humor. Our biggest surprise was how good Irish food has become, and the variety of ethnic restaurants available in the big cities. For our out-of-town and overnight trips, we dealt with Irish Rail. We highly recommend you do the same.”

Where is it?
We are located in Cabinteely - our neighbourhood is very safe and quiet, especially in summer when schools are off (there is a school nearby) and we have great neighbours. We are a 1 minute walk from a 45 acre park with lots of walks and an excellent playground catering for toddlers to teenagers (see photo). There is a large food/drinks/clothes/household shop 5 minutes walk from the house, and within 1 minute walk (across the road) we have a Tesco Express (groceries & wine) doctor, dentist, Chinese takeaway, pharmacy, drycleaners & coffee shop. Within 10 minutes walk we have a good selection of restaurants, takeaways & two pubs (bars). 5 mins walk to bus stop & 15 minutes walk to the Luas (light rail).
30 mins drive (or bus/Luas) will bring you to Dublin city centre with its wide range of attractions including museums, art galleries, Trinity College, Temple Bar tourist area, Guinness Hop Store, Jameson Irish Whiskey distillery, Christchurch Cathedral etc. 15 minutes from Dun Laoghaire with ferry terminal to UK, beaches & coastal walks within 15 minutes, Dublin & Wicklow Mountains within 20 minutes (see photos of Glendalough), and we are 1 mile from the M50 motorway, which gives easy access to the airport & the national motorway/road network to all destinations - very convenient for day trips in all directions. We also have a number of cinemas, bowling, shopping centres & swimming pool/gym all within 15 minutes.
