About our home

Our home has 3 bedrooms, two of which are twin rooms and a master with king-size bed and a single bed for a child. There are two bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a Jacuzzi bath. It has an open plan living space which includes large kitchen, dining room and living room with a wood and peat burning stove. There is also a washer dryer and fridge freezer in the utility room. Kitchen has all mod cons. Smart tv and free Wifi

There is a nice green garden overlooking the sea. The house is in the little village but in a very quiet corner. You can see an ancient castle ruin from the garden.

The local area provides lots of fantastic walks and beaches . The Kerryway is nearby with numerous shorter hill-walks, gorgeous scenery for cycling or walking. The marina is 5 minutes walk away and the village has a few shops, restaurants and traditional pubs. There are numerous golf course nearby. We live and work in Dublin so this house is available most of the year.

More about us

  1. We are a couple in our 50's (but very young for 50's) and in great health. We enjoy travelling far and wide and also closer to home. We both work full time so our time off is limited but we travel as much as possible. We live in Dublin and we exchange our country home in beautiful Co Kerry where Tadhg is from. I, Michelle work as Children's therapist and Tadhg works in construction and property.

Our home does not need to be exchanged simultaneously and we also have another house for exchange. This house is a converted farmer's cottage located on a very remote mountain, overlooking the Atlantic and just around the corner from the Skellig rock (made famous in Star Wars) an ancient monastic site. If you are interested in the 2nd home please ask us for more details. Its beautiful but not for everyone!! We can also offer accommodation in our home in Dublin while en route to Kerry. Kerry is accessible by car approx 5 hours from Dublin and you can also fly to Kerry airport and go from there.

We are interested in visiting New York as Tadhg's eldest son lives there currently, and we each spent time there in our youth so a revisit is a must. We are also interested in a home exchange in Portugal, Spain and Italy. In fact we are very open to suggestions so if are interested in our home drop us a line and we can consider our options.

We love the outdoors, hiking, biking, beaches, forests and equally enjoy all a city has to offer' especially good food, wine and company. We like music, film, art and theater, getting lost and discovering new people and places.

Where is it?

Cahirsiveen is a beautiful and very peaceful place, beside hills and sea. The town gets its name from a fort (the Fort of Sive, daughter of McCarthy Moore the Chieftain), which was 30 meters away from the house but has been eroded with time. It is a magical place, perfect for getting to know the Irish music, culture and rich folklore. The famous Skellig rock as seen on Star Wars is a short 12km away.
The area is very attractive to all ages, with plenty of interesting activities for children such as beach sports, hiking, horse riding and amazing archaeological sites... plus great fishing and golf... Many artists choose this part of the country for residence and you can see their work in the surrounding villages. If you drive one hour to Tralee you find a good waterpark for children. To the other side you find Killarney, a very popular touristic town, pretty and picturesque, with a wonderful National Park full of lakes and wildlife among the mountains. Killarney also boasts some of Ireland's greatest hotel Spa's for a day break.
