About our home

Our quaint 2 Bed Cottage presents the character of a century old property but is furnished in a modern and comfortable style.

In addition to the main double bedroom the second bedroom includes a double and single bed and would be ideal for children or other guests. Enjoy the view of Tuskar Rock Lighthouse in the distance from the main bedroom window.

There is a double sofabed in the livingroom.

There is Satellite and Freeview TV in the livingroom and main bedroom. Enjoy the view of the windfarm at Netherton and the surrounding agricultural fields.

There is oil fired central heating throughout the Cottage and a fireplace in the livingroom.

The kitchen is equipped with a fridge freezer, full cooker with oven and grill, microwave and washing machine.

The bathroom includes a WC, basin and shower.

The Cottage is nestled in a 1/4 acre of gardens ideal for playing games, relaxing after a busy day of sightseeing or just sunbathing.

There are gas fired and charcoal barbeque's in the garden and a sheltered pebbled patio area behind the house with outside table, parasol and cushioned chairs. There is also an outdoor coffee table and cushioned armchairs.

Immediately behind the Cottage we have a 3 Bed Mobile Home which may also be available. It can comfortably sleep 6 persons. The Mobile Home is located within the adjacent Caravan Park but is enclosed within its own garden and patio area. It can accessed directly from the Cottage by crossing a few steps over a small bank.

There are bicycles, golf clubs, tennis rackets and other games equipment in the shed at the bottom of the Cottage garden. Tennis courts are located behind the Cottage in the adjacent Caravan Park.

There is a convenience shop located within the Caravan Park,together with a takeaway and family restaurant, a launderette, playground and pub (the Lighthouse) which offers free music nightly throughout the summer season.

A supermarket is located a 5 minute drive away at Our lady's Island and a larger supermarket at Rosslare Harbour, a 15 minute drive.

  1. We are Liz and Noel, a married couple in our 50's. Only one of our four adult daughters still lives in our main family home. I am a Chartered Accountant with a practice in Dublin. We have visited Carne Beach for holidays and weekends for over 30 years. We both love Golfing and Walking.

    We love to travel and to discover new places which we have not previously visited. This is our first time to try a home exchange, having heard very positive feedback from friends.

Where is it?


The Cottage is located a 5 minute walk from Carne Harbour and 3 minutes from Carne Beach and miles of safe sandy beaches ideal for swimming and watersports. Fishing trips and boat hire can be arranged at the harbour.

There is a choice of excellent restaurants and pubs within a few miles. The Lobster Pot,award winning Gastropub and Restaurant is located within a mile.

The Cottage is located a 15 minute drive from the Europort at Rosslare Harbour in Co Wexford, in an area known as the Sunny South-East. Car ferries arrive daily from Pembroke and Fishguard in the UK and twice weekly from Cherbourg and Rosscoff in France throughout the Summer.

The Cottage is ideally situated to explore many famous and beautiful sights on the South coast of Ireland including Hook Head (45 mins)and Kilmore Quay (30 mins). The National Heritage Park is a 20 minute drive. Alternatively visit secluded sandy beaches, rugged picturesque coastline, quaint villages and quiet country roads.

Take the ferry at Arthurstown on a 10 minute trip across the estuary and visit Dunmore East, travelling on to Tramore and Waterford City.

The Cottage is a 20 minute drive from Wexford Town,a bustling town with a wide range of shops, restaurants, pubs and other amenities.

Rosslare Strand, a Blue Flag beach is within a 15 minute drive. Curracloe offers miles of sandy beaches and was the location for the WWII beach landings in the film "Saving Private Ryan", it is a 40 minute drive away.

Our Lady's Island, 5 mins away by car is a place of pilgrimage and is the closest village. The village includes a supermarket, pub and church. The village looks out over a beuatiful scenic sea lake. The other side of this lake is cut off from the sea by Carnsore Beach. This seawater lake is the location for international windsurfing competitions and is very popular forE watersports. Stand at the Carnsore Point monument whick marks the South East corner of Ireland and see where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Irish Sea.
