About our home

Our home is a clean and comfortable four bedroom bungalow. Built in the 1970s, it was completely renovated in 2010. Outside we have a large pleasant back garden with patio area, children's swings and a trampoline.

The main bedroom has a tv and an ensuite bathroom. The second double bedroom is upstairs and is a recent attic conversion. It also has a wall mounted tv. There is also a single bedroom downstairs that can be made into a twin and a single bedroom with a toddler bed which can be changed for an adult if necessary.

The kitchen is modern and has an adjoining dining room where all the family can eat. There is also one main bathroom, a WC an d a utility room.

We have two cats but they have a home outside and are not allowed in the house.

We take great pride in our home and we love it and we hope you will too.

Where is it?

Our home is located just outside Carrigart Co. Donegal. Carrigart is located on the north coast of Donegal on the Rosguill peninsula between the inlets of Mulroy Bay and Sheephaven Bay. The village enjoys a busy tourist season being both a popular holiday destination itself and also because of its close proximity to the many beaches of the nearby Downings. This lovely village is an ideal centre for exploring the magnificent scenery of the adjoining coast and is convenient to Glenveigh National Park.

Downings is a five minute drive from us. It is a lovely seaside village located amid the spectacular scenery of north Donegal. The village is blessed with superb beaches and has fine views across Sheephaven Bay to the Ards peninsula and the distant flat-topped peak of Muckish. It has a long standing tradition of tweed making and fishing. Downings is traditionally an Irish speaking area where you are likely to hear Irish spoken but English is the language generally in use. Sheephaven Bay is ideal for water sports and deep sea angling. Jaws Watersports shop in Downings can hire out all you need for fun in the water including kayaks, surfboards, bodyboards, wetsuits and sandboards. The Rosapenna Championship Links Golf Course is just half a mile from the village. This small peninsula area jutting out into the Atlantic also has interesting walks and drives.

Some of the activities available in the beautiful Carrigart & Downings area include:
•Golf at Rosapenna Golf Club
•Other superb courses in the general locality include Dunfanaghy and Portsalon
•Enjoy beautiful unspoilt beaches on your doorstep – Tramore, Tra na Rossan, Downings Bay, Melmore
•Enjoy diving in the clear waters of Mulroy Bay and Sheephaven Bay; The Mevagh Dive Centre is located in Carrigart
•Take a trip around the spectacular Atlantic Drive and Lough Salt Drive
•Horse Riding
•Find peaceful roads, country lanes and mountain tracks to walk
•Glen Valley
•The Old Glen Bar & Restaurant
•Magherabeg Leisure Centre & Swimming Pool and Kids Kingdom
•Bike hire

Within a 30 minute drive of the holiday home there are numerous things to do and places to visit:
•The majestic Glenveagh National Park, with 16,000 hectares of mountains, lakes, wood and bogs and coffee shop
•The beautiful Ards Forest Park and beach
•The historic Doe Castle
•The lakeside centre in Dunlewy has something for all the family including boat trips and activities for both adults and children
•In Dunfanaghy there is a workhouse famine museum
•Churchill has the famous Glebe House and Gallery as well as the Colmcille Heritage Centre
•Letterkenny has all the amenities you would expect to find in a large town - cinemas, theatre, leisure centres, art galleries and excellent shopping
•For a day trip, a visit to Tory Island or the ancient walled city of Derry are highly recommended
•Climb Muckish and Errigal. Mount Errigal is the highest mountain in Donegal and is a demanding climb; once on the summit you can see for miles around
•Lurgybrack farm - Children's petting farm and a great family day out.

For a great holiday experience we would encourage you to get out and about and explore the area. Various festival weekends are held in Carrigart & Downings and neighboring villages during the summer months where great music, family fun and outings are scheduled; these festivals are well advertised in the villages.
