About our home

This house is in a quiet rural area but close to the village of Monkstown and Cork Harbour. It is a short drive to shops, cinemas, bars and restaurants and Cork city centre is about a 25 minute drive at offpeak hours. We designed and built the house 35 years ago and it is a comfortable family home. The views from the upstairs windows are fantastic. The garden is private and gets the morning sun at the back and the afternoon and evening sun at the front. At night it is wonderful for stargazing!

More about us

  1. I am an archaeologist and museum curator. My children have now left home and live in Texas and Vancouver so I like to visit them as often as possible. This is my first house exchange and I am looking forward to the experience.

Where is it?

The house is ideally located for access to the south of Ireland. West Cork and Kerry are a one to two hour drive away. A nearby cross river ferry means that the town of Cobh and the Fota wildlife Park are only a short journey.
A beautiful 18-hole golf course (Monkstown Golf Club) is across the road from the house. Monkstown Castle (under renovation)and its demesne is only a short walk away. Also within walking distance is Monkstown village with bars, a restaurant and lovely Italian Cafe.
