About our home

Looking for a skiing chalet in a European Ski Resort (must be assessible from Dublin airport). You can come to our home in Summer 2016 (non-simultaneous).

West of Ireland, overlooking lake, house with super view, private. Enjoy stunning views from this 7 bedroom, 6 bathroom home. In the heart of the beautiful friendly West of Ireland, on the edge of a small friendly town (10,000 people). Ideally placed for sightseeing the West coast of Ireland.

We overlook a small lake on a large elevated private open site, with views of surrounding countryside. Famous Croagh Patrick Pilgrim mountain can be seen from our sunroom/decking. Our house is not overlooked. The house is 430sq metres approx, 3 acre open site, 7 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms en-suite, separate dining room (seats 10), large well equipped kitchen with second dining table (seats 8), Large sunny sunroom (overlooks lake/countryside) with solid fuel stove, A lounge with fireplace and 42" TV. A kids separate T.V. room, computer/laptops with free wifi, gas barbecue, patio/decking area, 4 bikes. On the third floor we have a small gym (which we dont use much!). Will exchange cars (a 5 seater car and a four seater soft top old convertible).

Our teenage kids kayak in the lake in front of the house (3 kayaks & 7 life jackets & selection of wet-suits available). Cinema, bowling, swimming pool, restaurants, hospital, shops, traditional pubs in our local town.

Mayo offers the best golf courses in Ireland and a wealth of archaeological sites. It has many visitor attractions including Ashford Castle, Ceide Fields, Westport House, Museum of County Life and the Foxford Woollen Mills.

Beautiful 1st Class blue flag beaches are dotted along the coast to include Achill Island, Clew Bay and Old Head. Mayo offers many activities from a short stroll along a country lane to a hike up the famous mountain of Croagh Patrick.

Country Life Museum is 2km. Pretty Pontoon lakes (12 mins), Westport with beautiful beaches & excellent restaurants 30mins. Westport beaches 30 mins, Enniscrone beach 30 mins, Achill Island stunning beaches 50 mins, Sligo City 1 hr, Ballintubber Abbey 15km. Knock Holy Shrine (world renowned) 30mins. Ceide Fields (pre-historic settlement) 1hr. Horse-riding 1km.

Recommended to vist the city of Galway (1hour), very young vibrant city with old town, harbour and sea, great for foodies and shopping.

As our beaches are on the atlantic ocean they boast excellent surfing. Our nearest surf beach is 30 minutes.

Our closest airports are Knock Ireland West Airport (35 mins). Shannon airport 2 hours, Dublin airport (3hrs). Dublin has a direct train link to Castlebar.

Loads of world class Golf courses & links - 6 courses all within an hours drive. Castlebar has its own course. Top championship courses 40min drive.

Lots of beautiful walks in the region. Castlebar is famous for its 'Castlebar Walking festival'.

Fishing/angling with famous River Moy, Easkey river, Lough (lake) Mask / Lough Conn / Lough Arrow, Lough Cullen and sea angling from Westport/Clew Bay.

Two parents, two teenagers (non smoking) + maybe our third son (age 20) may join us for a few days. We are use to travelling and will take excellent care of your home. We have completed three very successful exchanges.
