“Our exchange with Barra and Rachel was a great experience. We spent 4 weeks in Phibsborough, which was an easy 20 minute walk into the centre of Dublin. The location on the canal was lovely and made for great evening walks. The apartment was charming and well appointed. Very easy access to out of town road, shopping, etc. Highly recommended. Barra's reviewsAs a host (4)
“We had a wonderful exchange! Rachel & Barra are super hosts. They are really warm and friendly and arranged everything very well for us. We felt right at home from the moment we arrived. We spent lots of time in their spacious kitchen or in the sunny garden with sun hours from early in the morning till late in the evening. Our young kids loved the garden as well and not to forget their kids playroom. They played ours and ours with all their ‘new’ toys! Rachel and Barra made a list of day trips and other suggestions for us to do, which were all great and very useful. In our opinion Ireland is a lovely country to visit. It is so varied! You have beautiful beaches, lovely cities and don’t forget the amazing nature which was breath taking! The city of Cork is a perfect central place to stay. We swapped cars as well which made it very easy to go to all the suggested places. For example to discover al the fords and castles. We used their bikes to go to Blackrock Castle for coffee and diner. A big shopping mall is only 5 min away and you can buy fresh bread just around the corner! What else do you need!! ”
“We had a great exchange with Rachel and Barra, with excellent communication both before and during the stay. We spent 3 weeks at their home that is very well equiped, The house is located in a strategic place to visit Cork, the Wild Atlantic Way, discover beautiful villages as Cobh, Kinsale, Cahirciveen and the Skellig Michael. We would highly recommend this family both as hosts and guests, as we found our home in perfect order when we came back too. We are forever grateful to have done this exchange with wonderful people! ”

Where is it?
Our house is situated in the upmarket Rochestown area of Cork. It is only a 5 minute walk into the popular Douglas village. Douglas contains everything you could possibly need in terms of supermarkets, banks, coffee shops, restaurants, cinema, farmers market, convenience stores etc. There are various buses close to the house that you can take into the city centre (15 mins on a city bus). It costs approx. 10-15 euro to take a taxi into the city. The centre of Cork has many attractions including the English market, Fitzgeralds Park, many bars and restaurants, the shopping area of Patricks Street etc. The real attraction to where we live is the ability to explore the likes of West Cork and Kerry on day trips or for short overnight stays. Believe me there are so many fantastic places to visit and we can make so many recommendations (Clonakilty, Castletownbere, Bantry, Killarney, Dingle). If you enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and enjoy amazing scenery and mountains then you should definitely come and visit.
