About our home

This is our second home (our main home is in Dublin), while simply furnished is situated in the Burren Region of north County Clare a region of great beauty and tranquility. The house has 3 bedrooms, one of them en suite (sleeps 6) but also has a couch bed. Kitchen has modern conveniences but no dishwasher. Beautiful views from the house and a perfect base for those that love walking and enjoying nature. Please note: not in a position to exchange cars.

More about us

  1. Married for over 30 years, Noel is a Social Care Worker and Kathleen is a Civil Servant. We love travel, especially seeing interesting cities but are open to all options. A car is necessary in the area but as this is our second home we would not be in a position to exchange cars. We are fairly flexible with dates and sometimes might have family/friends travelling with us. We are experienced home exchangers having had about 17 successful exchanges to date.

Where is it?

While very rural is within 20 minutes drive of a range of beauty spots, restaurants, traditional Irish pubs/villages etc. Pub within walking distance which also serves food in the summer season. Within 40 minutes drive of Galway city, 1 hr drive from Limerick City and 50 minutes drive from Shannon airport. Horseriding, sandy beaches, surf schools within 30 minutes drive. This area is a haven for art lovers - many artists reside and work in the area and there are numerous exhibitions that take place from time to time. World renowned golf courses are also accessible - Lahinch and Doonbeg. A trip to the Aran Islands is another memorable experience. Boats leave from Doolin Harbour daily (in season) about 30mins drive from house and also from Galway city. From May to September most villages host music festivals with a range of local and international artists. The area has something to suit all tastes, those that love walking and outdoor activities, the art lovers, and those that wish to just relax, taste the beautiful local cuisine and enjoy a few pints of Guinness while listening to traditional music in the pubs. For the children, there are fine beaches, pet farms, caves, swimming pools and numerous other activities nearby.
