“What a perfect trip! Carmelita was a wonderful host, excellent communication and happy to offer suggestions /advice on local places of interest. House was massive yet cosy and ideal for entertaining. We arrived late into Westport on the Friday night for a family Christening and the children immediately found the toys that Carmelita had left out for them to play with - a welcome treat after a very long drive! The next morning we discovered the garden, and oh my what a delight, it was absolutely beautiful and the kids (and adults!!) had a lovely time exploring. What joy to be able to collect eggs from the chickens every morning!! Westport is a fantastic town with loads to do for the children, we were there during the All Ireland final weekend and such a fantastic atmosphere from everyone in Co Mayo! Thanks Carmelita for a wonderful stay... We'll be back... If you'll have us!! :) ”
Barbara's reviewsAs a host (3)
“This is a great house to stay in, all our bedrooms were en-suite, very comfortable and lovely bright rooms. The house had everything we needed, loads of space, plenty of towels, washing machine, tumble dryer and outside line. The outside area was brilliant especially with the beautiful weather. We enjoyed being able to move around the fabulous garden to sit/lie according to whether or not you wanted sun, shade or quiet time. I loved the hammock as well, time to wind down, reflect or just to have ‘me time’ We had our daughter, son in law and two granddaughters with us, it was very well equipped for children, plenty of books, games and outdoor activities like the swing, mud kitchen, soft play area and obstacle walk. The girls enjoyed collecting the eggs that Molly and Dolly (the hens) laid for us every morning. We were also able to avail of the lettuce and chives that were in the garden. Westport town centre is only a 10/15 min walk from the house and has loads of independent shops, restaurants and bars. The harbour through the beautiful Westport House is just 20/25 min walk. Again loads of restaurants and bars overlooking the beautiful Clew Bay. There is a children’s play park just 5 mins from the house. We visited the beach at Old Head Pier which is about 30 min drive. where there was ample parking and toilets. We also visited Keem beach in Achill, a well renowned world beauty spot. Barbara and Sean were very attentive, friendly, helpful and responsive and their communication with us throughout was brilliant. I would certainly recommend Barbara and Sean’s home for a home swap, thank you very much.”
“This was our first home swap in our own country and we were delighted to avail of this opportunity to explore this beautiful part of Mayo. House was very big, spacious and clean with a wonderful garden to also enjoy. Location was perfect. Communication was easy and we would highly recommend swapping with Barbara and Sean as they left our house clean and tidy. 10/10”
