About our home

We offer a lovely, compact house which is very tastefully decorated and contains all the essentials! Situated in the historic market town of Ardee, we are surrounded by some of Ireland's most treasured sites, including the magnificent Boyne Valley and Newgrange. We have three bedrooms, one with bunk beds, one with a double bed and one ensuite bedroom with a double bed. There is a living room, and a large kitchen where all the family can eat, and we have an office/study located on the deck in the back garden which has broadband internet access, phone, fax etc.. Donstairs features wooden floors in the hall and living room, with tiled floors in the kitchen and utility room. There is a fireplace in the living room, and the kitchen has all the necessary features and equipment. Upstairs, the bedrooms are carpeted and both bathrooms are tiled: we have two showers and one bath. We have two cars which are optional.

More about us

  1. We are Sinead and John, a married couple with three children - seven year old twins (Jack and Alannah) and a five year girl named Eabha. We are both professionals (business consultants), as well as in the process of developing a new business in Ireland and the USA. We enjoy travelling when able to get away. We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to try what sounds a great way to see another country as a resident - and allow someone to see yours. My wife Sinead has previous experience in event management and with groups travelling to Ireland, and we would be delighted to help in tailoring some visits and trips around Ireland. We have both travelled extensively in Ireland as well as around the world, and would be happy to share some of our favourite retreats and hideaways around Ireland! We would very much like to exchange with people who share our passion for travel and experiencing life, and making our home yours, and trusting that we woudl treat your home like we would our own.

Where is it?

Our home is situated in a quiet neighbourhood, mainly occupied by young professional families and retired couples. There are tennis courts adjacent to the neighbourhood and we are a few short minutes walk from the town centre with shopping, restaurants, pubs etc. Ardee is ideally situated for exploring the east coast of Ireland: we are surrounded by some of Ireland's most famous historical and cultural sites, including Newgrange, Monasterboice, Mellifont, Trim Castle to name but a few. Dublin and Dublin airport are less than an hour's drive, and Belfast can be reached in about 90 minutes. The new motirway netowrk means that you can travel easily to any location betweem Antrim in the north to Wicklow, Kildare and the south east of the country.
