About our home

We live in a detached house in a very nice suburb of Dublin.

Our house is a family home with two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom. We have a living room, kitchen and playroom also. Our garden has plenty for children to play with, slides, playhouse, footballs. There is a barbeque and garden furniture for all when the sun shines. We have broadband, satellite TV, DVD. Kitchen has an American style fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, dryer, microwave and all mod cons.

We live in Castleknock a suburb of Dublin (7km from city centre). We are a twenty minute walk to the Phoenix Park, Europe's largest suburban park. It offers walking, cycling, playgrounds, Dublin zoo and historic homes to visit. We are 2km from a large shopping centre with cinemas, theatre and leisure centres. Within minutes of our house are numerous pubs and restaurants. A bus stop right across the road from our house will bring you straight into the city. A suburban train station can be found at the bottom of our road just 5 minutes walk away. To get further into the countryside, take our car and you can reach the M50 motorway in minutes. From there, all the radial routes from Dublin will bring you North, South and West to visit our vibrant green country.

Just across the road from our home is a small shopping area with grocery store, pub, chemist, fruit and veg shop, butcher and takeaways. There is also a catholic church and it is where the local school is. This area is called Laurel Lodge and it is very friendly and full of families.

Castleknock village is just 10 minutes walk away. There you can find more pubs and restaurants and some more specialist shops. That is also the gateway to the Phoenix Park.

We are a family of four, myself my wife and two sons (aged 3 and 5). I am an accountant in the City and my wife is a secondary school teacher. We are both originally from Dublin so can suggest plenty of sites from a local point of view!! We have home exchanged before and can offer references from our previous family.
I enjoy sport and my wife sings professionally on a part time basis.
