“Thanks a lot Donal for your welcoming and friendly house's swap. Your huge and beautifull house is very confortable and really closed to Dublin and the little beach of Sandycove. The communication was really good and his advice and tips were perfect. I recommand him if you want to spend really good time in Ireland.”

About our home
Our location is in Dun Laoghaire, on the coast, South County Dublin
The house is a period Victorian four storey end of terrace building, with established gardens to the front and rear. The garden to the rear has a patio with chairs and tables for eating outdoors. High ceilings, tall sash windows, rows of bookshelves and comfortable fittings will add to the experience. Comfortable fold-out beds can be added in the bedrooms.
The house is fully equipped with all the equipment that you would expect and has a fast internet connection. There is a car available also for exchange.
Dublin city is very accessible on the local commuter line (DART)30mins or by car. The station is a short walk away (15 mins). Access to the rest of Ireland is easy via the ring road (the M50) and of course scenic Wicklow is very close.
AVAILABILITY: our little group of 4 retired people is flexible but we aim to spend either the month of July or the month of August on the exchange.

Donal's reviews
As a host (4)“We had a very nice week in Ireland, in a very comfortable house. The location is 200 m for the sea, 300 m from Joyce's tower. Center Dublin is really easy to reach within 30 minutes. We exchange cars and went to the absolutely beautiful wicklow mountain (Glendalough) and the lovely town of Kilkeny. We strongly recommend the exchange, of course.”
“Donal has been very efficient on preparing the trip, and all swap details. The house is perfectly located, out of Dublin's buzz and really close to great spots of swimming. Nous avons passé d'agréables vacances chez Donal. La communication et l'organisation ont été faciles. La localisation de la maison permet de visiter Dublin et ses environs mais aussi les magnifiques Wicklow mountains.”
“This summer we have enjoyed almost a month in this house with a lot of charm and that has allowed us to enjoy this wonderful country, its landscapes, the people and beautiful cities. Dun Laoghaire is a lovely neighborhood to walk by the sea and so close to the center of Dublin that in less than half an hour by car we were walking in its streets. The communication with Donal has always been very smooth and he has taken care of our house very well. Definitely a highly recommended exchange.”

Neighbourhood
This area is called Sandycove, and it is an ideal location for those who want a bit of everything - seaside, coastal vistas, city excursions, rural sightseeing. It is also known for its James Joyce's Tower, an old Martello Tower which features in the opening pages of Joyce’s Ulysses. It is an established neighbourhood and is situated between Dun Laoghaire and Dalkey, both 15 minutes walk away. Dun Laoghaire has a large Marina and you can rent out boats there.
Within walking distance are local amenities - shops, several welcoming pubs and excellent restaurants and buses and local train to the centre of Dublin (30mins).
importantly, the coastal seaside area of the Forty Foot is a few minutes walk away for good swimming off the rocks. Driving for less than an hour takes you along THE coastal drive towards the national parks of Wicklow mountains and of Powerscourt, Glendalough and other historic sites. There is easy access to the national road network and drives to Newgrange, Cashel and the Shannon.
