“This house was perfect and is so comfortable spacious and homely. The tennis court is a lovely addition and the garden is gorgeous. John and Ann-Marie were more than generous and even said that we were welcome to stay on beyond our arranged leaving date! The area is lovely and there are so many things to see and do in the surrounding area. There are numerous beaches nearby and they are not at all overcrowded. Indeed, we often had an entire beach to ourselves. There is a lot of history in the area also. So relaxing! ”

About our home
Our house is a beautiful detached holiday cottage situated near the coastal village of Duncannon, County Wexford. We have stunning views across to the famous Hook Head Lighthouse and although our home features modern and spacious accommodation, we also retain the character and charm of a cottage.
There are exposed stone walls throughout and four bedrooms in total, two with en-suite shower rooms. We also have a fantastic living area with large windows that not only create a bright and airy feel but also make the most of the sea views!
Outside is a superb decking area suitable for alfresco dining or maybe just a quiet drink on fine days, plus there is a private tennis court opposite suitable for young and old! Just one mile down the road is the pretty seaside village of Duncannon that has a selection of shops and pubs as well as a beautiful beach with safe swimming available plus there are seven other beaches to explore around the Hook Peninsula. Our location also has two award-winning, fine dining restaurants, Dunbrody House in the village and Aldridge Lodge, just three miles away, both of which are worth a visit. Bistro dining is available also in the area with the award winning fish restaurant "The Hollow" just minutes away.
Take the short ferry crossing and visit Dunmore East and Waterford City or explore the stunning coastline of County Wexford with beach walks at Kilmore Quay, Cullenstown and Bannow. Walk the Hook Peninsula and visit the grand Loftus House or take to the ocean for a spot of sea angling or whale watching. There are also many quality golf courses in the area or for the more active; the Shielbaggan outdoor centre offers many activities such as kayaking, rock-climbing and orienteering!
This is a unique and picturesque part of the Emerald Isle and our home is the perfect place for an Irish break that will linger long in the memory.

Neighbourhood
We are lucky to have a house in Ireland’s Ancient East which has the natural beauty and tranquility of the unspoiled Hook Peninsula. Stretching out from the scenic Southeast corner of Ireland, nieghbouring Waterford & Kilkenny, the Hook Peninsula is famous for its breath-taking vistas, magnificent natural landscapes and beaches, national heritage sites, beautiful gardens, pure sands and calm seas – this is the untouched ancient Ireland you’ve been longing to visit. Try your hand at kite surfing, kayaking, coast steering and surfing all on offer. For the fearless maybe take a fright filled tour of Ireland’s most haunted house or wind down with a stroll on a beautiful woodland walking trail. When you have worked up an appetite, sample one of the many seafood pubs and restaurants from Michelin dining to award winning bistros, there is something for all tastes and pockets.
