“We stayed in Eamonn and Orlas home in Easkey for around 3 weeks at Christmas time. Eamonn and Orla met with us prior to the swap (we did a non simultaneous exchange) and explained all about the house and town. They are a great couple and we enjoyed their company. Their home is roomy and comfortable. It is well set up with everything we needed. It was cold and windy when we were there and the house is well insulated. It was lovely to light the fire and cosy up in the lounge room listening to their record collection. Easkey is a fantastic little town. The locals were friendly and welcoming. Easkey is on the coast and the rural surrounds are really pretty. I can thoroughly recommend their home for a great stay.”

About our home
Our house, just outside the village of Easkey County Sligo, is a renovated and modernised cottage that we use as our second home. It is a detached house with front and back gardens. There are four bedrooms, a living room with a fireplace, a kitchen cum dining room and a bathroom/WC. The heating is provided by an oil fired central heating system. Upstairs there is a large open plan loft with two futons, a snooker and soccer table; this is a large bright room perfect for reading and relaxing!!
The main bedroom has a queen sized bed, wardrobes, chest of drawers and an ensuite wash hand basin. There are two single rooms with single beds, wardrobes and ensuite wash hand basins. The fourth bedroom has a double and a single bed, together with a wardrobe and chest of drawers.
The living room has a TV and a music system that includes a record player. The kitchen has all the modern appliances one would expect, including an electric cooker/oven/grill, fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dish washer, micro wave oven and slow cooker. The bathroom includes WC, a wash hand basin and an electric shower.
This is a relaxing, cheerful house, furnished in a casual easy living style. It is a perfect place for a peaceful relaxing break as you adjust to the leisurely pace of country living in rural Ireland.

Eamonn's reviews
As a host (1)More about us
-
We are Eamonn and Orla. We are both retired from the Irish public service. We enjoy travelling, golf, reading, walking and swimming. We love the outdoor life and we enjoy visiting and exploring new destinations across the world. We have completed seven home exchanges to date and thoroughly enjoyed every one of them.
We have two grown up sons, one who lives in Ireland and the other lives with his family just south of Sydney, Australia. We visit our son in Sydney every year and while we are in Australia we like to take one or two 'holiday trips' of ten days to a fortnights duration. We have our home exchanges organised for 2016 but are open to offers of home exchanges in Australia or anywhere else in the world in 2017 or beyond. It does not have to be a simultaneous exchange. You can come to our home in Easkey at anytime, particularly during the European summer.
Besides Australia we are also interested in exchanges in the USA, Canada, Europe or anywhere in the world – surprise us!!!

Neighbourhood
Easkey is a small village on the North West coast of Ireland in the County of Sligo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easky. Our house is a ten minute walk from the village. The village has local shops, butchers, hairdressers, Post Office and traditional Irish pubs with plenty of good Guinness. Easkey is famous for its surfing, and salmon fishing in the River Easkey. There are also many walks through beautiful scenery and the rugged coastline provides spectacular views.
Our house would be an ideal base for exploring the west coast of Ireland including the counties of Sligo, Donegal, Mayo and Galway http://www.sligotourism.ie/ , http://www.discover-donegal.com/ , http://www.mayo-ireland.ie/Mayo/Tourism/Tourism.htm , http://www.galwaytourism.ie/. There are many golf courses within an hours drive of our house including the famous links courses of Enniscrone, Rosses Point, Carne and Strandhill https://maps.google.ie/maps?ie=UTF-8&q=sligo+golf+courses+ireland&fb=1&gl=ie&hq=golf+courses+ireland&hnear=0x485ee9b5677caee9:0xa00c7a997317380,Sligo,+Co.+Sligo&ei=YzqZUKTjHsyGhQeIuYG4Cw&ved=0CLcBEMgT
Our house is a twenty minute drive to the town of Ballina http://www.ballinalive.com/ and thirty minutes to Sligo Town http://www.sligotourism.ie/. Both towns have good shopping outlets, many fine restaurants, cinemas, museums and pubs. Loch Easkey, which is situated in the Ox Mountains, is about a twenty minute drive from our house through the most stunning scenery and country side. There are many walks and hikes around Loch Easkey and its surrounds.
