About our home

Welcome to our home which is warm, cozy and very inviting! We built our house in 2006 on a large plot of 1.5 acres and its approx 2,700 sqft. We have stunning views which you will enjoy whilst relaxing in the conservatory. Downstairs we have a large sitting room with solid fuel stove, large flat screen TV and views over the Burren, this leads to the playroom/computer room which houses every board game you can think of! The kitchen is open plan with all the mod cons and a dining area and leads to the conservatory which has access to the patio area where you will find garden table and chairs and an gas-fueled BBQ. There is also a double bedroom and en-suite downstairs (with walk in shower) as well as a large utility. Upstairs there are 3 double bedrooms, 2 with en-suites (1 with a bath) and a single bedroom. Our home is luxurious and comfortable. Outside, we have well kept gardens all around the house, a patio area and a large trampoline with safety net. There is ample room to play games, football and run around and explore.

We also have fast internet access/WiFi/SKY TV/Wii and lots of bikes you can use to explore the area.

Hi, my name is Bridget, I'm married to Pete and we have 2 girls Katie (15) and Hannah (12). We did our first exchange in 2012 in France which was a great experience so we are hoping to arrange another adventure for 2013. We have a beautiful home which we know you will enjoy the tranquility of the countryside and the convenience of exploring the many pleasures in Galway. We would like to exchange with a house close to the beach/sea. We would be very respectful of your property. We are non-smokers.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Our home is located in the rural village of Killeen, ideal for walking/hiking an cycling fanatics as there are many trails and mountain/forest walks to explore. We live 6 miles from the small town of Gort where you will find many restaurants, cafés, pubs, local shops and supermarkets to suit all tastes. Just outside of the town is Coole Park and Nature Reserve which has wonderful forest walks, tea room, picnic area, Visitor Centre and lake views - It was also a source of inspiration for the famous poet W.B.Yeats and many other poets. Kilmacduagh is another local tourist attraction with its very own Leaning Tower! The nearest beach is approx 25 minutes away.

Living South of Galway next to County Clare there are many attrations close by including the Cliffs of Moher (voted one of the new natural seven wonders of the world!), the Aillwee Caves, Connemara, the Burren National Park, Bunratty Folk Village, the famous fishing village of Kinvara, the Aran Islands (by short ferry) and surfers paradise at Lahinch beach. For other outdoor adventures the Burren Outdoor Adventure Centre has Caving, Rock Climbing, Kayaking, Body Boarding and Snorkelling.

Galway City is approx 25 mile away. It has a fantastic vibe full of cultural life, art, music, theatres and great shopping! The city and county is steeped in character and culture and there are many festivals and street carnivals throughout the year. If you wish to venture further a-field, the cities of Dublin, Cork & Kerry are all commutable from our home in Galway. We hope you enjoy your visit to Galway!
