More about us

  1. Hi! I am a college lecturer, my husband is a painter. Our kids are Emma 15, James 11 and Georgia 4. We love the outdoors and all things food! We love our home and welcome anyone who will respect our home and it is especially lovely for those who like a little luxurious comfort. We have a large spacious house which has 4 double bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, large Kitchen, 2 Living rooms, Laundry Room and an office. We have a large beautiful private garden with a BBQ and beautiful Patio for outdoor dining. We have lots for kids including a large trampoline, garden playhouse, zip line in the trees and loads of board games and books and of course Xbox + games. We love to cycle and have lots of bikes for all ages.

  2. We live in the countryside close (18 km) to Galway city (West coast of Ireland). We are a short walk to Kilcolgan village where you can get the bus to the city. In the village are shops bars and restaurants, and nearby a famous seafood restaurant on the coast. Galway is a popular tourist destination as it is a very beautiful and old city steeped in culture and is home to arts and music festivals, horse racing festivals and is full of fabulous restaurants and pubs.

  3. Our house is located 150 m from the midpoint of the Wild Atlantic Way which is the most scenic road trip in Ireland, if not one of the best in the World. We are close (just 1.5 Km) to woodlands for walking/cycling/swimming. We are close (18km) to the Burren National Park which offers 1500 hectares of limestone landscape which is fabulous for walking/hiking.
Airports near us are Shannon (45 min) and Dublin (2 hours)

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Our countryside house is 150m from Kicolgan village with 2 small shops, 2 bars, 2 restaurants and a coffee shop. This is a quite village where all the neighbours know each other. We are 18 Km from Galway city situated on Irelands West Coast and has everything a European city can offer. Galway dates back to the 18th century and is a very popular tourist destination surrounded by shops and traditional pubs that offer live Irish folk music. Stone-clad cafes, boutiques and art galleries line the winding lanes of the city.

Buzzy restaurants
Galway city has many fine restaurants but I have to recommend my local pub which does great food, is very affordable and you can walk home! Morans of the Weir is a famous seafood restaurant which is 1 mile down a country lane from the village. Clarinbridge is only 1 mile away and is home to the native Clarinbridge Oysters which are a popular dish in the restaurants here along with a pint of Guinness
Cool bars
Local pubs and restaurants in the villages of Kilcolgan, Clarinbridge and Kinvarra. Galway city has many pubs and clubs
Cozy cafés
Poppy Seed and Ajla are very popular cafes within a mile of my house and serve locally sourced foods of the best quality. Also, there's the 'Chefs Cafe' nearby where you can bring your own wine!
Retail therapy
We are very close to Galway city which has many small boutiques along with high street stores but if you really want to hit the shops I have to recommend the Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick city which is 50 mins away.
Bit of culture
If you stay here you have to visit Galway city. You have to explore the Burren National Park. You have to explore at least some of the sights along the Wild Atlantic Way and you must visit Connemara to ensure you get to experience some of the most beautiful sights Ireland can offer
Walks in the park
1 mile from my house there is lovely woodlands suitable for walking and mountain biking. There is also a swimming pool here. The Burren (15 min drive) has the most amazing scenic hiking trails which offers the most amazing views.
Spot of exercise
I love to run in the local forest which has trails popular for both walking and mountain biking. I also love to 'Walk the Prom' in Salthil which is a beach resort on the outskirts of Galway city.
Day tripping
Bunratty castle is 40 mins away - Fab. I recently climbed Diamond Hill in Connemara which was absolutely beautiful. It is a long drive from our house (2 hours) but it is noted as one the of most scenic drives in the World so is a real treat. Cliffs of Moher are also very populat tourist destination and is a lovely day trip. Also, from there you can get a boat to visit the Aran Islands off the West Coast which are truly beautiful.
