About our home

My home is peaceful, beautiful, spacious, bright and airy, with a wonderful garden including vegetables and fruit, overlooking Galway Bay, with the Burren hills as backdrop. It has lots of trees and is very private - situated on an acre of ground. The house and garden are kind of special and magical. It also has an artist's studio. It would be ideal for an artist or writer ao anyone who wants to explore the wonderful limestone region of the Burren, with it's exotic flora and fauna.
Five years ago I renovated and redesigned my home.
I have a pond with flowing water and you can read surrounded by the Burren hills on one side and the sea to the front or listen to the birds singing and watch them bathe.
I truly love my home.

More about us

  1. I am a biologist, retired from lecturing and now working as an artist. I am also a keen gardener.
I love peace and quiet, reading, country walks and having my friends round for lunch in the garden or dinner watching the sun set over the bay.
I have a dog who I hope to give to friends while away, unless you are a dog lover and would be happy to mind him.
I have never done a home exchange before.

I am interested in traveling preferably in Europe. I love cities with good art galleries, but am open to temptation, at any time of year. During July/ August, however, I would like someplace, not too hot, where i would be joined by a friend or two.

Where is it?

I live in the country 5 mins walk from the beach, and one and a half miles from Ballyvaughan village. Galway,a lively University town is 45 mins drive away - also the bus passes the gate and Ennis the same distance in opposite direction.
It is located in the Burren - a magical limestone region famous for its rare plants and butterflies. Ballyvaughan village is picturesque and quaint with supermarket, craft shops and restaurants. The area is special for cycling, hill walking, hiking, sight seeing, swimming (if brave!), or just relaxing.
