This is a holiday home and a local farmer sometimes keeps a donkey or two in the yard to keep the grass under control! It is located up in the hills of Lahinch overlooking the sea and is about 2.2 km from the beach (2.5 km from the golf course).
Downstairs is tiled with underfloor heating and has living room with fireplace, conservatory with sea views, kitchen, one bedroom with double bed, game room with day bed and wheelchair accessible bathroom with a shower; upstairs has wood floors with two bedrooms, one is small with one bed, and the other is large, with 3 beds (sleeping up to 5 people). There is also a bed on the landing under a sky light. The upstairs bathroom has a bath under a sky light.
This is a rural retreat--the TV is old, the reception is not reliable and the choice of channels is limited. There is no telephone or internet connection to the house (though our mobile/cell phones do get reception at the house as does our computer with a WiFi stick). The surrounding area is extremely peaceful--the only sound really comes from local donkeys, birds and the occasional tractor.
My wife and I are university lecturers. Our children are almost grown, aged 24, 21 and 19; all in college.
The house is located in rolling hills with lovely views of farmland and of the sea. The village of Lahinch is 2.5 km away. Lahinch is famous for its surfing and its golf course. The world-famous Cliffs of Moher are about 15km away; another 5km further on is Doolin, famous for its traditional Irish music and is a ferryport to the Aran Islands.
Lahinch is about 45mins from Shannon airport.
