About our home

Our house was built in the 1930s and has many original features. We did a major renovation and extension 12 years ago. It is architect designed and my sister is an interior designer and her style is obvious throughout. The house is very bright with big windows. We put in major insulation and geo thermal heating, so the house is always toasty warm. We have an electric Aga in the modern kitchen. We switch it off for the Summer as it is too warm! There are 3 open fires in the reception rooms. All the bedrooms are en-suite. Our bedroom has a wrap around balcony which is both South and west facing. There is a large laundry room. The house is flooded with light as it is south facing. We have 2 patios, one south facing, which is ideal for having breakfast in the morning sun, to the sound of the stream and another, west facing which gets the sun until late evening. The garden has lots of mature trees and the property is very private. The site is over an acre. Our house is in Ballyard, a suburb of Tralee. It takes about 5mins to drive to the town centre and we can walk to town in 20mins. I enjoy walking and can walk from our gate and do a nice circular, rural walk in 40mins. There are lots of opportunities for lovely hill walks nearby in the Slieve Mish range of mountains and Mount Brandon. The Dingle way and Kerry Way walking routes are easily accessible. We are less than a 5 min drive to the Aquadome waterpark and the Wetlands, outdoor adventure and nature park. We are about a 30min drive to Killarney with all the amenities of the National Park and Carrauntoohil, the highest peak in Ireland, as well as Torc Mountain and Waterfall Dingle is about a 40min drive. The closest beach is about a 15min drive and we are spoilt for choice with a terrific selection of wonderful beaches including Derrymore, Camp, Castlegregory, Fenit, Barrow and Inch. Lidl is the closest supermarket and is less than a 5 min drive.

Features

More about us

  1. We are a couple with 3 adult children aged 25,23 and 21

  2. We both work in Tralee and love our home and where we live

  3. We love the outdoors and enjoy the wonderful unspoilt beaches nearby. We enjoy hill walking locally. The boys like sailing . We enjoy good food and love travelling. We would like to go to the West or East coast of Ireland this year and be as close to the sea or water as possible. A week from mid May to the end of June would suit us.
