About our home

Our home is comfortable, clean and spacious. The house is nestled in a quiet, leafy estate, on the outskirts of Leixlip village. It is ideally located 15 km from Dublin city centre and is well serviced by local bus and train. It has a well equipped kitchen with adjoining dining room which is bright and airy. There is also a comfortable sitting room with an open fireplace. There are 4 bedrooms with one ensuite and a family bathroom. The back of the house is south facing. It is paved and lawned and is ideal for barbeque's in summer time.

More about us

  1. We are Eunan and Geraldine, a married couple with two small children. We are both professionals, enjoy travelling and love the outdoor life. We have done one home exchange before which was great. We are keen to try what sounds a great way to see another country - and allow someone to see ours. We would expect to arrange an exchange in advance in order to get to know our fellow exchangers to see how best we can facilitate their stay in Ireland. We are very respectful of other people's houses and belongings and would treat your property with the utmost care.

Where is it?

Our house is situated on the outskirts of Leixlip village where the first Guinness brewery was founded in 1755. Some of the Guinness family still live in Leixlip Castle in the village. Our neighbourhood is child friendly and caters very well to the outdoor life. There are two big rivers and a canal in our area. These cater for fishing, canoeing, cycling and walking; with beautiful scenery to enjoy on route.

Just a 20 minute drive from our home lies the Phoenix Park. Spanning 1752 acres just north of the River Liffey, Dublin’s Phoenix Park is one of the largest walled city parks in Europe. It is full of tree-lined avenues, woods, and open spaces dotted with wildflowers and watch out for the fallow deer on your visit there. The park’s Victorian People's Flower Gardens are a popular visit, and next to The Walled Garden and Ashtown Castle there’s a cafe that serves fresh, organic food. There’s also a Victorian tea room on Phoenix Park’s Chesterfield Avenue. In summer, the park hosts open-air concerts and the Phoenix Park Motor Races every August. A popular spot for a picnic, the park is home to Dublin Zoo which receives over a million visitors a year.

Two of Ireland's oldest stately homes: Carton House and Castletown House are located very close by our village. Both period houses are steeped in history, with wonderful architecture. These estates are set in extensive grounds which are open to the general public to enjoy scenic walks and cycles. Carton House is also home to two of Ireland's finest championship golf courses.

As well as great outdoor life, our proximity to Dublin city means it is an ideal location for those who enjoy the arts and culture. There are numerous theatres, museums, art galleries and cinemas to enjoy with an abundance of restaurants and coffee shops close by also.

Our neighbourhood is centrally located approximately 30 minutes from Dublin city. It is close to the M50 ringroute; leaving it easily accessible to many popular tourist destinations such as the Wicklow mountains, numerous beaches and historical sites such as New Grange and Tara. It also has ready access to all the principal motorways, leaving Cork, Galway and Belfast a mere two hour drive.
