Our home is a recently renovated and extended 4 bedroom house with garage. We love our new kitchen extension because it's south-facing and gets the best of the light. We have a good-sized garden, with football goal, trampoline and a granite terrace with dining furniture. Downstairs, we have two reception rooms, a large kitchen with utility room and a small washroom (toilet and sink). We also have a garage, with bikes for two adults and scooters and bikes for three children. Upstairs, we have three bedrooms (one king, one double and one single) and a large family bathroom with shower and bath. Our attic is converted to provide a fourth (single) bedroom, with a shower-room.
We're a family of five, with three children aged from 7 to 11.
Josh is a division manager with a large Dublin-based company and Aoife is a primary school teacher.
We love to explore our city and the surrounding counties during the weekends and school holidays. We also like to read and chill out at home.
We live on the northside of the city, a fifteen to twenty minute drive to the city centre. We are served by a number of regular bus routes into the city too. There are two large green areas for the children to play on right beside our home and our very active residents' association ensures that they are always nicely planted and well-maintained. Our neighbourhood has a range of parks and playgrounds. Our favourite one is Hampstead Park, right beside Dublin CIty University, a five-minute cycle from our house.
We chose our neighbourhood because it puts us within easy reach of many of the great things that Dublin has to offer, from long walks by the sea in Howth or in the mountains, to city trips to museums, theatre and restaurants. The M50 is close by and gives us easy access to the mountains and the beauty of Co. Wicklow. We are also within easy reach of the beautiful Phoenix Park, Dublin Zoo, Farmleigh Estate, Glasnevin Cemetery, St. Ann's Park, the Botanic Gardens and a selection of cinemas and indoor children's play centres. On nice days in summer, we like to cycle to the coast in Clontarf, or venture further to Howth (about a 45 minute cycle).
For the practical things in life, we have a branch of every major supermarket close to us, as well as smaller convenience stores for quick trips. When we don't feel like cooking, we order in from Camile Thai or San Sab (https://www.sansab.ie/) or we head out to eat in Shouk Drumcondra, Boco's Pizza or the world-famous Gravedigger's Pub.
