About our home

Deceptively large house with the curb appeal of a small cottage, 300m from town center, this home offers the guest a tastefully finished and spacious living area. Which can accommodate up to 10 people comfortably. Three of the five rooms are en suite. We have a large garden with lots to do for the Children and Adults it has a Trampoline, raised decking area with lots of room to play around on the lawn.

More about us

  1. We are a family of four, Liz my wife and two daughters Sorcha (21) and Neasa (18) and myself live in Portumna in our family home which we have owned since 1990. We are very involved in our local community and enjoy the outdoors, hiking, camping and swimming. We run a family business which is a "Glamping site" www.podumnavillage.ie and can offer interested parties either our home or Pod Umna Village accommodation whichever they would prefer.
    We exchanged our house with a family in the Barcelona region and we had a wonderful time, we also exchanged with a family in Lyon France and equally enjoyed the experience we would like very much to exchange with another like minded family in 2016/2017.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Portumna is located in east Galway and rests on the banks of the majestic river Shannon and lough Derg. Seat of the Earl of clonrickard the Castle is a must see and open to the general public as is the Old Abbey and Famine workhouse. Portumna also has a 1500 acre mature forest park which has a number of beautiful nature walks, a busy little town Portumna has a number of friendly waterholes for the thirsty visitor for that well earned pint of Guinness, before dining in one of its many restaurants. Within easy driving distance of the cliffs of Moher, Galway city, Limerick city, it is an ideal base for visitors wishing to go sight seeing.
