About our home

Our Home is a large detached 5 bedroom house in a beautiful rural parkland setting. It also has a 2 bedroomed annex and is set on a well appointed 3.5 acre elevated site surrounded by 200 year old trees and is less than 50 m from the river Rine. Bounding the patio is a gallop where race horses are trained. In early morning you can see the horses galloping past as close as 20 m from the large patio window while sipping a coffee in the kitchen. We love to grow our own vegetables in our vegetable garden and any visitors are welcome to sample our home produce and help themselves to the glorious delights of home grown vegetables for dinner. In the Annex (which sleeps 7 on its own), we have gym equipment such as weights, treadmill, and a TV while you exercise as well as a pool table/table hockey for the children. In the main house we have playstation and plenty of games. There are hundreds of books (all English) in the bookcase and a large selection of DVDs to choose from. In the Kitchen there is a solid fuel AGA which is on 24/7 all year round. (It is essential to leave it on constantly even though it is turned down during the summer months.) This heats the water so there is a constant supply of hot water. We have a jaccuzzi bath in the main bathroom. The main house has 5 bedrooms with 2 en suite all double and king size beds. There are 2 living / sitting rooms with TV, a huge family kitchen / dining room and a large office with wireless broadband.

Where is it?

Our house is situated in rural County Clare, the most beautiful county in the West of Ireland. Clare boasts the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher on the Wild Atlantic Way to the West and the river Shannon and Lough Derg to the east. The local village, Quin, is 1 mile from our house. Quin is very picturesque and has a 13th century Franciscan Abbey, a shop, 4 Pubs, a school and a church. The nearest town is the County Town of County Clare, Ennis which is great for shopping, music, has lovely streets and fine restaurants. 4 miles from our house is Dromoland Castle for the 5 star dining treat. All these places can be Googled for more information. We are 40 minutes from the Wild Atlantic Way with gorgeous beaches. There is also a medieval banquet held nearby in a Norman castle, Bunratty, which is well worth a visit. (Ireland was conquered by the Normans!) We have a Mercedes 200 and a BMW X5 Jeep which we are willing to offer as a swop for similar. The house is located 15 mins drive from Shannon International Airport. A car is essential as we live in a rural area.
