About our home

Our house is a modern 2/3 bed semi-detached bungallow in a quiet rural setting, on a private road shared with 6 other dwellings. There is good sized garden with ample parking space. The house is only 150 yds. from the first tee of the Rosslare Burrow golf course and beside the Rosslare Championship links course. This course is a pay-as-you-play course and costs €20 approx. for 12 holes. Our house would suit a retired couple or small family with one or two children. We have a conservatory, a kitchen/dining room with an open fire, 2 bedrooms, TV/3rd bedroom, bathroom and outside garage. We call it the "Divot" because of its proximity to golf. We really enjoy the tranquility of the area and its proximity to amenities - golf, tennis, restaurants, nature walks etc. As we live in Dublin, which is a 3 hours drive max. from Rosslare - we will be pleased to meet you for advice etc. if required. We have also a local man who will help with any queries.

More about us

  1. We are recently retired professionals (school principal and bank manager) with a grown-up family. This is our first introduction to holiday exchange. We live in Dublin and we would like to go to a warm climate e.g. anywhere in Florida for about one month during the period Jan/Mar 2009. We are offering in exchange our holiday home in Rosslare which would be available any time during 2009. For good weather, May, June, July, August and September are the best months in Rosslare. We like going there in the winter months also as there are splendid walks - miles and miles of sandy beach and plenty of golf. All within walking distance. We are totally flexible about dates. We feel the best arrangement might be to exchange with another holiday home (owner) in preference to a main residence .. because of flexibility of dates. I enjoy playing tennis and golf, while my husband sails from Spring to Autumn. We rarely use the boat for cruising. He also plays golf and enjoys rugby a lot. We have three grandchildren - 4yrs, 3yrs and 1 yr. who love visiting Rosslare. We would consider an exchange for one month maximum - we would miss our grandchildren otherwise!

Where is it?

Rosslare Strand is a seaside resort 20 mins. drive from Wexford Town and 10 mins. from Rosslare International Ferryport. This area is known as the "sunny southeast." The adjoining beach has "Blue Flag" status - beaches in Ireland achieve this award because of excellent hygiene and asthetic standards. We walk to the beach from the house - a 10min. max. walk. The neighbouring area (also within walking distance) is famous for its wildfowl reserve and natural habitat. This is a protected area. There are numerous pubs and restaurants in the vicinity. The renowned Kellys Resort Hotel (www.kellys.ie) is just 15 mins. walk from the house. Their famous Spa is a must for those who want to totally relax and "chill." The nearby Lobster Pot is famous for its fish menus. Rosslare Golf Club is a championship course and is also within walking distance from the house. Trains and buses to Dublin and other towns are available daily. There is a twice daily bus into Wexford Town which is the home of the renowned Opera Festival takes place annually in Oct. In New Ross is the JF Kennedy Arboretum and Johnstown Castle and Gardens are just on the outskirts of Wexford Town. There are local tennis courts and bowling greens. Children are catered for in the nearby playground and creches. Babysitting can also be arranged. All in all - for a "taste of Ireland" Rosslare and Wexford are must. Enjoy!
