About our home

We have a comfortable two-bedroom, open plan apartment in beautiful, scenic West Cork. It's attractively located within one mile of the popular fishing village and yachting centre of Schull. The apartment is attached to our home, but has its' own entrance and access and parking space. Because we live in the main house, our apartment is available all year round. Amenities include a modern shower room, an open plan kitchen which is lovely and airy in summer and modern kitchen appliances including electric cooker, microwave,dishwasher, fridge, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also immediate access to a large garden which is child-friendly and offers beautiful views of Schull harbour and nearby Mount Gabriel.

Our apartment is especially suitable for couples, single travellers or parents with a single child.

More about us

We are a mature couple with a background in education and the arts. Until recently, Ann worked as an attendance administrator, while Tim is an admin manager who also edits an international music website. Our interests include music, literature, eating out and of course travelling as much as possible. To date, we have thoroughly enjoyed 17 superb exchanges - in Gibraltar, France, Holland, two in Germany; three each in the UK and Ireland and five in Spain - since joining Home For Exchange and feel it is by far the best possible way to travel.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Schull is a vibrant and popular place for visitors in summer. Sailing, boat trips, pony trekking, sandy beaches, diving, golf and the only Planetarium in the Republic of Ireland are among the many local attractions on offer, while Schull has recently acquired an open-air gym which is great fun and good for the waistline too. Other possibilities in the West Cork area include hill-walking, bird-watching and whale watching. Schull village is small and picturesque and has supermarkets, friendly pubs with regular music, good craft shops,a bank, a post office and ATM facilities. Local people are hospitable and kind.
