About our home

Sorry .... Please no requests for more than 2 people ... :) ... I offer a beautiful house right next to the Atlantic Ocean in one of the most demanded areas in Ireland. There is a living room, a meditation room and a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom.

A large handmade pitch-pine kitchen and glass conservatories, several fireplaces and cozy sitting and reading areas make this place very charming and special. Oceanview from every room. The groundfloor is entirely fitted with black natural stoneslabs and has underfloor heating. Many walls in the house are natural stonewalls.

An extensive collection of CD's, DVD's, books (English, Deutsch, Francais) and art make this place a place to relax and unwind. Despite being fairly big, this place is not for children: Original artwork, very expensive hifi systems, Persian carpets and handmade furnitures are too delicate for children.

The house has its own well with fresh natural water. An intimate sandbeach is right in front of the house and during the summer months I go swimming every morning. (For watersport enthusiasts, there is a kayak.)

From the upstairs bedroom window you see the world famous Fastnet Lighthouse as well as a stone tomb (which is about 4000 years old).

More about us

  1. Having worked as photographer in NY and Paris and having travelled the world, I chose Ireland as a home because it is simply the most powerful and yet peaceful place I have ever seen. I also have an apartment in Berlin because in terms of art, its the city to be. My wife has her own business in Ireland but whenever she can, she joins me on my trips.

An exchange with our house in Ireland would have to be simultaneous, whereas an exchange with the apartment in Berlin would not have to be simultaneous.

I did many exchanges so far (both alone when working and together as a short vacation) and never had a bad experience. For me, to swap homes is an ideal way to work in my profession as I frequently need to read scripts and "getting away" is giving me the right peace of mind. So .. I am always open to short term offers, especially within Europe, anytime of the year.

  2. Our kids live abroad.

  3. We enjoy warmth and coziness and both homes are filled with books, art, movies and music.

Where is it?

The house is located in the sunny South West Coast of Ireland, one of the most demanded areas of Ireland. Cork airport is 50 miles away, the next little town (Schull) is 6 miles away. It is surrounded by unspoilt nature on several acres of own coastal land, right at the Atlantic Ocean. All you see from the windows is the sky and the blue of the water, all you hear is the wind and the ocean. Because of the Gulfstream, the climate is extremely mild (palm trees in front of the house) and most of the year is perfect for being outside.
Because this area is highly sought after by tourists (a sailers paradise) the coastal towns are bursting with charming pubs, first class restaurants, little shops and activities. In short: If you want to withdraw and nourish your soul, be surrounded by the Ocean, breath fresh air, hear nothing but the waves, this is the most amazing place to be.
