About our home

Our home is a bright, comfortable 4 bedroom semi-detached house at the end of a quiet leafy street in the villlage of Skerries, North Co.Dublin.

The house consists of a bright open plan kitchen/family room overlooking the rear garden; at the front of the house there is a second living room with TV, DVD, WII, Playstation, etc and also a playroom for the children (the playroom also has a pull-out double bed). Upstairs there is a master bedroom and 3 children’s rooms, 2 with single beds and one with a baby’s cot. There is a bath & shower room upstairs and a further downstairs toilet.

We have a small garden to the front and a larger sunny garden to the rear with a patio, barbeque and garden furniture. There is also a large children’s climbing frame, den, swings, slide and sandpit. We also have bikes available for your use (Adults & childrens).

We are equipped with washing machine, tumble dryer, American style fridge-freezer, microwave and WIFI internet connection

Skerries is a picturesque seaside town 30km North of Dublin city centre which provides an excellent base to visit all that the capital city has to offer and to explore the towns and countryside of the East coast of Ireland.

Skerries has many restaurants, cafes & pubs, supermarkets, delicatessens and boutique shops and there is a farmers market every Saturday at ‘Skerries Mills’. There are 2 beaches in the town; a stony beach where you can fish in the rock pools and a long sandy beach looking out on the Skerries islands and Rockabill lighthouse in the distance. Skerries also boasts the only West facing harbour on the East coast of Ireland where you can watch the sunset over the fishing boats and sailing yachts while relaxing at one of the restaurants and bars in the harbour. Beyond the harbour is ‘Red Island’ with walks overlooking the sea and a children’s playground. There is also a large playground for all ages located at the fabulous Ardgillan Castle which is 5 minutes by car from our house. At Ardgillan you can also take a tour of the castle, picnic in the gardens and walk through the woodlands with dramatic views over the Irish Sea.

We live at the end of a quiet tree lined street approximately 10 minutes walk from the village centre & beaches. The train station is less than 10 mins walk away and has a regular service to Dublin city centre taking only 35 minutes.

While we are only a few minutes walk from the village centre we are immediately adjacent to the Skerries Mills parks where you can enjoy a stroll past the windmills, tour the heritage centre, visit the café and craft shop and don’t forget to feed the ducks & swans on the way home!

We are a Scottish/Irish couple. Steve (40) is a surveyor; Emma (37) is a scientist and our (well behaved) children are Maia (8) Abby (7) and Leo (2). We have an independent cat and an outdoor free-range rabbit who would require food during you visit or if you prefer they could be looked after elsewhere.

We have completed 4 home exchanges so far and we are looking forward to many more!
