About our home

Our house in Sneem is our second home located at the edge of the village. It is very comfortable, with an open-plan living area downstairs with wooden floors, comprising a kitchen, dining area and large seating area. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms en suite. The bedrooms are furnished with 5ft double beds, wardrobes and bedside lockers. The fully tiled en-suites have bath and power showers. The third bedroom is furnished with bunk beds, a separate single bed and a pull out bed, ideal for sleeping up to 4 children. A fully tiled family bathroom with a power shower completes the upstairs. In addition there is a large downstairs toilet with wash-hand basin.
Heating is via a wood pellet burner. The house is very well insulated and is warm. Outside there is a paved area to the front with parking and a small back garden.
The house has a TV and DVD player with a selection of DVDs, board games and books. There are also two kayaks available for use including buoyancy aids and a selection of wetsuits. We also have a new toy as of this year - a SUP! We welcome dogs - the back garden is enclosed.

More about us

  1. We are Stephanie and Paul, a married couple in our fifties with three daughters. We are both engineers. We live in Cork and have holidayed in Sneem every year since our house was built in 2007 and have had fantastic times there. All our daughters love the sea and watersports and this is a fantastic location for experiencing all the sea and the coast has to offer. We did our first - very successful exchange in 2014 and have now exchanged homes in France, Spain, Austria, South Africa and Australia. We travel sometimes as a couple or accompanied by our youngest daughter. On occasion, the whole family will travel.

Neighbourhood

The house is located on the edge of the village of Sneem. Sneem is beautifully set on the Ring of Kerry with spectacular views, plenty of pubs and a choice of good food locally. The Kerry Way, a walking route through Kerry passes through Sneem and there are a number of loop walks locally also. Also in the area is the wonderful blue-flag Derrynane beach and Derrynane house which was the home of Irish statesman, Daniel O'Connell. Walk the beach, swim, kayak, sail or surf and finish off with a hot chocolate or ice-cream at the cafe in Derrynane house. Between Sneem and Derrynane there are a number of other attractive beaches and swimming locations.

Sneem is also near to Killarney - about an hour by road, but this road takes you via Moll's gap and Lady's view where you can enjoy the sensational views over Muckross Lakes and National Park. Killarney National Park has walking, cycling, and hiking routes as well as the traditional jaunting cars - just decide on the level of activity you would like and there is something there for you.
