About our home

We built our home in 2001, and we are 5 mins west of the village of Spiddal in a quiet rural area. Downstairs is a comfortable and cosy living room, with a wood burning stove. Just off the living room is the conservatory, to maximise the evening sunshine. In the kitchen and dining room there is a sunny aspect in the mornings, lovely for leisurely breakfast times. The hall area is open to the play-area upstairs and the bedrooms. Upstairs we also have an area for reading with large windows looking south.
There are the two main bedrooms upstairs, with the main bathroom. The children’s room has a double bed and the master bedroom with a kingsize bed. Downstairs is the guest bedroom with a queen size bed and an ensuite. There another guest room , which has a double bed that is also used as an office. The second bathroom is downstairs also.
The house is set on over an acre of land with views south to the Burren in Clare, the Aran Islands and Galway Bay, and that has trees and a vegetable garden. We also have a polytunnel, where we grow vegetables that you are welcome to use. In the front of the house we have seating area with a bbq and picnic table.
There are 2 adult bicycles and kid’s available to use, as well as body boards for the beach that is a 15min walk away.

More about us

  1. We are a family of three, Ciara and Eric and Conor who is 7. Eric works in the craft village in Spiddal and Ciara is a rehabilitation instructor. We are usually busy in the garden, walking our dog Toby, cycling, playing football and we enjoy travelling to other countries and cultures. This will be our first exchange and we are keen to have your home and our home well respected and enjoy the benefits of home exchanging.
