About our home

Open for offers for Summer 2013.

Our home is modern, spacious and comfortable with four bedrooms - two of which are en-suite. There are four bathrooms in total, two with showers and one with a bath. We have a large, fully-equipped and welcoming kitchen and adjoining dining room where we love to cook and entertain. In the sitting room we have a t.v. with satellite channels, dvd player, Wii and a great selection of dvds and books. The large decking area to the rear of the house is ideal for barbecues and dining outside during the summer months. There is a swing, slide and see-saw set in the garden as well as a trampoline, basketball hoop and soccer goals. The stream running through the front garden attracts a great variety of wildlife- we've even spotted some foxes visiting for a drink! Our house is very child-friendly with lots of children's books, games, dvds and toys for all ages.

“We highly recommend an exchange with them . It was SUCH a success! Deirdre and her family were fabulously welcoming and did everything to make sure we had a great time in Ireland .The location is great just between Galway and the Connemara park 2 minutes from the sea. We have seen so many incredible things in a week... We have 4 children (16 , 14 ,13 and nearly 3)(recomposed family) and I can say each single member of the family came back absolutely delighted. I just tell you , you would be lucky to exchange with them .”

Where is it?

We live at the end of a quiet country lane, just before Spiddal village, with stunning panoramic views of Galway Bay and the Burren in Co. Clare. Spiddal is 12 miles west of Galway city in South Connemara and beautifully located overlooking Galway Bay and the Aran islands. Spiddal is in an Irish speaking region of Ireland know as An Gaeltacht where students come to learn the Irish language, culture and traditions.

Spiddal beach is only 1.6 km from our house and boasts a beautiful promenade. Spiddal village has many fine pubs and restaurants with shops and a post office also. Spiddal Craft Centre (www.ceardlann.com) is where you can see crafts being made and gives a rare opportunity to buy unique handmade gifts directly from the skilled Artisans themselves. Consisting of a range of workshops, including candle making, leather work, pottery, screen-printing, weaving, celtic jewellery, bodhrán making, wood-turning and a Restaurant. Our house is a mere 1.7 km trip to this lovely craft centre.

You can explore the natural beauty of Connemara or visit the world famous Aran Islands which are visible across the bay and can be travelled to by air (Airport 3 km west) or by ferry from Rossaveal (10 kms). Galway city, a short 20 min drive away is a lively university city with thriving nightlife, cultural activities and excellent award-winning restaurants and pubs. Summer events include the Galway Arts Festival and the Galway Races.
