Our home was built in the 1910s by a prominent Dublin property developer as a wedding gift for his daughter. Offering over 3000 sq. ft or living space, the house was completely refurbished within the last three years. While it retains many of the period features that make this late Victorian home unique, our home also boasts a very high energy rating, due to insulation, modern windows, and a very efficient heating system. Visitors can enjoy the tranquility of the main living room to the front of the house or sit overlooking the garden in the large kitchen/diner/family room to the rear of the house. As we have four children, the second reception area acts as a more relaxed family room and contains a piano in addition to an array of games/toys. The master bedroom has a superking bed, a luxurious en-suite and enjoys views of the Dublin mountains from the bay window. There is also a bedroom with a king bed and en-suite, two further bedrooms with double beds, a single bedroom and a nursery with cot/crib. In addition to the two en-suite bathrooms there is a bathroom with a shower, and a toilet room on the ground floor. The rear garden provides opportunities for lively BBQs, relaxation, and children's play.
We're an Irish couple with four children.
Sandra is a history professor at UCD while Donal works in corporate strategy and development.
Our home is located on a quiet street within five minutes walk of both Terenure and Rathgar villages, two of the oldest neighbourhoods in Dublin which now boast an array of restaurants, coffee shops and independent stores. The bus goes from our street to the St. Stephen's Green area of Dublin city centre in 15-20 minutes, and so visitors can easily enjoy the extraordinarily vibrant social and cultural scenes that define Dublin. Nature lovers can enjoy the Dodder River or Bushy Park within five minutes walk, and both the Dublin and Wicklow mountains are easily accessible by car. The M50 motorway is also within close distance, providing easy access to the airport or visits to the rest of the country.
