About our home

Our home built in 2000 is spacious, comfortable and full of character and is on just over one acre. We have a very nice garden with lawns to the grount and rear, a small deck and veranda at the front and a nice natural copse of trees towards one side. The house itself has a traditional Irish half-door at the rear, has a good sized kitchen with Rayburn cooker, a large living room with open fireplace, study, dining-room, downstairs W.C. and four en suite bedrooms -- three of them upstairs.

While one of us works fulltime the better half is semi-retired! Children have fled the nest! Only the dog (Babe) remains to keep us company! We have never had a house exchange before but various family members have done so successfully. Neither of us are fond of long haul flights so are not interested in trips outside Europe.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

We are situated in the most scenic and picturesque area of south Kilkenny, in the triangle of Inistioge, Thomastown and Kilkenny City. Woodstock Gardens are a joy at any time of the year in nearly Inistioge -- Inistioge is the most visited inland village in Ireland. Thomastown is a thriving small town with some interesting craft enterprises and the beautiful Mount Juliet hotel, estate and golf course is just 1 mile outside Thomastown. We are within an hour's drive of Waterford City, Kilkenny City, Wexford town, New Ross, Clonmel etc. Cork city is 2 hours drive. There is a railway station in Thomastown with Dublin a 2-hour train journey away. Horse Racing also nearby.
