About our home

We offer a large and comfortable country house in beautiful West Cork. We have four bedrooms, one with a large double bed and en-suite, two with double beds and one with two beds. We have a comfortable living room and sun-room and a large kitchen where all the family can eat. It is a spacious house with wooden floors, fireplace in the living room and wood-burning stove in the kitchen. There is a shower room and WC downstairs and a bathroom upstairs. The garden is large with football posts, swing set, trampoline, cart, and bikes. We have a lovely little stream running through the end of the garden which offers a beautiful retreat for reading and relaxation.

More about us

We are Maire and Mark, a married couple with four children aged between 7 and 12. We are both professionals (bank manager and secondary school teacher) and enjoy travelling when able to get away. We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to try what sounds a great way to see another country as a resident - and allow someone to see yours. We would expect to arrange an exchange some way in advance in order to get to know our fellow exchangers via email first to see how best we can facilitate their stay in West Cork.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Ideally located as a touring base, our home offers easy access to beautiful West Cork and Kerry. Cork city and its airport is 40 mins away. We have a Ford Galaxy 7-seater for your use during your stay.
Our closest village is the seaside village of Timoleague which has beautiful restaurants and our closest town is Clonakilty which is a welcoming tourist town. Conakilty also has a vibrant pub/ restaurant/live music scene.
Our other local town is Bandon which has a weekly country market and some fine restaurants.
The beautiful marina, tourist/gastro town of Kinsale is a 25 minute drive and offers a host of unique tourist and restaurant experiences.
We are within 10 minutes of a number of sandy, safe swimming beaches and close to a number of good surfing beaches (Inchydonney and Garretstown). We have wet suits for both children and adults.
We have bikes for all the family and there are lots of lovely cycling routes in the area.
Within 15 mins drive we have the option of tennis courts, pitch and putt, golf courses (2), language school, horse-riding, coastal walkways and surfing.
Sailing courses, surf-school, language-schools and horse-riding lessons are run locally throughout the Summer.
