We are glad to have enjoyed Nollaig´s house in Carrick-on-Shannon for more than two weeks in August. Her house is very welcoming and it has wonderful views of the river, just as it is shown in the pictures. You really feel at home.My daughters have taken part in a science summer camp in the morning and in the afternoon we have had the opportunity to explore the surroundings and to visit a lot of interesting places. It has been our first home exchange and we didn´t know how it would turn out. We are very happy with the experience: we have had a fluent communication with Nollaig, she has been very kind and so has her father, we are very pleased to meet him.”

Nollaig's reviews
As a host (6)“We spent two weeks during July of 2014 at the home of Nollaig in Carrick on Shannon. We had a wonderful experience and have happy memories of being there. Before, and during the exchange she was very communicative and helpful. Her house is very comfortable, and we particularly loved the beautiful views over the river Shannon, and the absolute silence when we woke up in the morning. My daughters went to an indoor summer camp in Carrick for one week, and the other week they went to an adventure summer camp in Lough Key Forest Park. They loved both. It is a wonderful area to visit due to the beautiful countryside. Nollaig took good care of our home. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nollaig to anyone wanting to do an exchange in that area.”
“My children and I had a wonderful weekend in carrick. Nollaig's home is beautiful and had everything we needed for our exchange. She went to great lengths to assist with our break being easy and comfortable by providing information about the local area and detailed instructions about appliances in the house. There is lots to do in the area for children of all ages and the house was also well set up or kids or people without. I would thoroughly recommend this exchange and hope to set up another here next year. Thanks”
“This is the second time we have swapped with Nollaig. Everything was just beautiful and the house is so relaxing, overlooking the winding Shannon. It has everything you need in the house to make it so comfortable. Carrick has something to do for everyone of all ages and with different interests. Again, we had a really enjoyable weekend and would definitely be interested in swapping again in the future. Nollaig left our house in great shape too.”
“Our exchange with Nollaig was a great success. She did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We found a large modern and clean house, lying on the outskirts of Carrick-on-Shannon on a hill, from which you have a magnificent view of the river Shannon and the scenery around. Every day offered a new outlook to us by the ever-changing cloud formations. It was as if a painter painted the same landscape in ever new facets. The house is very spacious and comfortable. At our arrival we found the fireplace prepared by Nollaig for a cozy evening. It is an ideal starting point to explore the surrounding area in all directions. Many beautiful lakes and a lovely countryside invite you for trips. The sea you can reach within just 45 minutes. We especially recommend the Tullyboy Farm for children, Lough Key Forest Park and Arigna Mining, which are all nearby. We also liked to get in contact with Nollaigs charming father who helped us when ever we needed help. We met Nollaig before and after the exchange and appreciated her humor and generosity. When we got home, we found our apartment in a very good condition. We can strongly recommend an exchange with Nollaig.”

Neighbourhood
The house is situated just a few minutes walk from the centre of Carrick on Shannon town in County Leitrim in the west of Ireland. Carrick on Shannon is a very pretty town with beautiful walkways along the river Shannon front. It has been the recipient of the Gold Medal in the Entente Florale Awards. It is a lively town with plenty to occupy holiday makers - pubs with evening entertainment, clubs and restaurants, arts and drama centre, cafes, public swimming pool and gym, tennis courts, 18 hole golf course, walking and cycling routes, boating trips, bowling, multi screen cinema, traditional music, soft play areas for children. There is an annual carnival at the start of June. The town has been awarded the Purple Flag for the quality of night-time entertainment.
The town is less than an hour's drive from the beaches of County Sligo where you can surf, get seaweed baths or just walk and enjoy the beautiful landscape of the West of Ireland. You can access sections of the famous Wild Atlantic Way coastal drive easily from my home.
It is a fifteen minute drive to Lough Key Forest Park where there are options for walking, boating, soft play, Zipline and an overground tour.
It is just two hours to Dublin and there are direct trains and buses from Dublin several times a day. The house is also only 45 minutes from Knock West Airport that serves a number of UK and European destinations.
