About our home

We live in a beautiful cottage style home in the countryside approximately 3km from the biggest town in Kerry which is Tralee so you will have the advantage of a peaceful place to stay while remaining close to many amenities. It is a 4 bedroom house with a bright open kitchen and living area with a lovely new sunroom and outdoor patio area which faces the south and has amazing views of the mountains. Here you can barbeque in the evening after returning from your trips and enjoy the evening sun with a glass of wine! We have a large enclosed garden with childrens play equipment – climbing frame, swings and a trampoline and use of our bicycles of course. Our road is very safe and quiet, many people use it for country walks and cycling.
One of the best things is that we live very close to some beautiful beaches, many of which have great watersports facilities during the summer, we can give you wetsuits to fully enjoy this experience! We have satellite TV, DVD player and a wood stove in the living area which is easy to use. The Kerry coastline is incredibly spectacular and the world famous Ring of Kerry drive starts close to Tralee and takes you on a breathtaking journey along the south coast of Kerry. Along the way there are many opportunities to stop and take photographs and enjoy local refreshments. Of course you will have to visit the Dark Sky Reserve in South Kerry which is the only place in the Northern Hemisphere to see the stars so bright in the night sky! It is part of the Wild Atlantic Way on the west of Ireland tourist trail along our beautiful coast. Kerry is one of the most beautiful west of Ireland counties with so much to experience, all of which we can help you with when you begin to plan your trip!

More about us

  1. We are a married couple, both 41 and we have 2 sons aged 9 and 7 so we have many toys, books, games and DVDs for children. We also have a cat Denis who stays at home during our holidays (he sleeps outdoors!)and a dog Sally both of whom are very affectionate. We can arrange to have Sally looked after for your stay or if you would like the experience of having a pet then we can arrange for them to stay if this is something you would like-she would also prefer to remain at home I'm sure! Sally is a small, very lovable, easy dog to have, she loves to be brought for a walk if you like to bring her and likes the company and love of people! And our 2 goldfish only need a pinch of food each day!! My husband works as a police officer and I am currently in media. We love to travel and experience new cultures so a house swap to live in and experience a local area is perfect for us. This is our first house swap so we are looking forward to sharing our home with you. We love our home and take great pride in it and therefore we will also do the same for your home to care for it as you would wish.

Tralee hosts the world famous Rose of Tralee festival in the third week of August every year for the past 50 years. It is a week of entertainment, atmosphere and lots to do – parades, concerts, street entertainment, childrens activities, firework displays, fashion shows etc.
There are many hillwalking routes on the mountains behind our house with amazing views which have become very popular with many tours that visit Ireland.
The local beaches (including Banna, Ballyheigue, Maharees) are amazing for surfing, kite surfing, kids water activities and of course swimming and walking for miles and miles. You will never experience fresh air like this and will want to bring it home with you!
There are so many boat trips for you to choose from which go to many beautiful areas and islands along our coastline including Valentia Island, the Blaskets and the UNESCO Heritage site of Skellig Michael. Your route here will take you on an incredible scenic drive through the mountains across the Conor Pass.
The nearest town to Tralee is Killarney and is only 25 minutes away. It is one of the most famous and picturesque towns ever and has wonderful tourist facilities available. You can go to the Gap of Dunloe in the mountains, take a trip on the lakes, climb Torc Waterfall, take a trip in a jaunting car around the town of through the National Park, it may tempt you to stay a night or two in one of the lovely hotels to experience all its wonderful atmosphere and fabulous restaurants.
