About our home

Our house is semi-detached on the edge of Tramore, a lovely seaside town, you can walk the long beach, or try surfing or body boarding - we have surf boards, body boards and wet suits for all ages. For smaller kids the rock pools provide hours of fun and the beach is very safe and has life guards on duty all summer. Behind the beach is a great kids playground, a skate park, cafes and amusement rides. There are many other beaches and playgrounds to explore within 20 minutes drive - Fenor, Annestown, Bonmahon to the west and Dunmore East, Passage East and Cheekpoint to the east. We have lots of lovely pubs and plenty of music going on here in Tramore especially at The Vic and Murphs, or traditional music sessions at Crokes Pub or Raglan Road, or just a quiet cosy pint and a chat in Martha's.

Downstairs in the house is the living room, den / music room, office, kitchen-dining area & utility, and upstairs are four bedrooms; one double (ensuite), one with two single beds, and two single rooms. We can rearrange these to take a cot etc. The den downstairs also functions as a guest bedroom and has a fold out double bed and ensuite shower room. The house was built in 2003 and an extension added in 2007, so it is modern, clean and comfortable.

We have four children, boys aged 16, 13 & 8 and a girl aged 10. We are well equipped to exchange with families. We have a large and safe enclosed back garden with a play area (swing, slide, enclosed trampoline, basketball hoop, football goal etc.), patio area with bbq and furniture. We have a cot, highchair, baby car seat etc, for families with babies. We're happy to consider a car swap - ours is a seven seater Peugeot 5008.

We started house swapping in 2008 and have had great experiences in France, Spain, Italy, the UK and the USA!

A bit more about our area:
Tramore has a three mile long beach which is wonderfully safe for children. There are smaller beaches within very easy reach just outside the town. The coastline stretches west to Dungarvan and is very unspoilt and was recently awarded the status of World Heritage Status, for its 'Copper Coast'. Tramore itself is a vibrant resort during the summer with pubs and restaurants, an amusement park and lots of water-based activities available. Our house is within walking distance of the town centre. Besides plenty of pubs, local cafes and restaurants, the local Coastguard Arts Centre has a beautiful location on the Doneraile walk overlooking the bay, and there are great cakes and coffee on sale there too.

Waterford City is just 15 minutes away and has three museums, documenting its Viking, Medieval and Georgian history http://www.waterfordtreasures.com/, as well as the House of Waterford Crystal, that shows you how the world famous crystal is blown and cut (the crystal ball in Times Square on NYE is made from Waterford Crystal).

There are beautiful gardens nearby, Tramore itself has beautiful Japanese Gardens dedicated to the writer Lafcadio Hearne, who spent most of his writing career in Japan, but his childhood summers in Tramore. Mount Congreve gardens are large mature gardens landscaped around a large house built in 1760 and recently left in trust to the people of Waterford http://www.mountcongreve.com/.

A new 48km cycling greenway opened this year taking cyclists along a disused railway track from the east to the west of the county http://www.deisegreenway.com/index.html.

You can check out more tourist information here: http://www.tramore.ie/

Tramore is a great base too for exploring the south east of Ireland, Wexford, Kilkenny and Cork. Dublin is a two hour motorway drive away.
