About our home

Our home is comfortable, clean and spacious. It is located in Wexford town (1km) in a small quiet cul-de-sac. It has a large sitting room with dining room incorporated. The sleeping arrangement caters for 4 people - two bedrooms with double beds. Our kitchen leads out to a medium sized fenced back yard with a lovely deck, is not overlooked and we have all the equipment required for sitting out/lunching in the fresh air. If you like we can swap cars for the duration of our exchange which will be convenient in visiting many of the local attractions.

More about us

  1. We are Eve and Sean, a couple in our early/mid forties with one daughter Grace who is doing her final second level school exams this year. I work part-time in the Environmental Protection Agency and Sean works for a Stationery Supplier in town. We have not done a home exchange before but love the idea of offering our home and exchanging with another family and also not knowing exactly where our exchange search could bring us. We look forward to answering any of your questions about Ireland and its attractions and getting to know you before your visit.

Where is it?

Our home is situated on the coast in the South-East of Ireland and is a fishing town called Wexford. It is a good sized town, has a gorgeous fishing trawler lined promenade which is lovely for walks in the evening. The town has plenty of shops, bars, restaurants which line a very long pedestrianised narrow main street. Wexford is located between several award winning beaches both north and south of the harbour, within an 8km car drive. We feel you would be very well located to visit the historic city of Dublin (1.5hr) for a great day out whilst based in a very attractive part of Ireland that is Wexford. Locally there are many many attractions one memorable trip would be to take the short boat ride out to one of the Saltee Islands (off the shore at Kilmore Quay - 22km) which has a great bird santuary and fabulous views. When you come back to shore you could sample a fresh fish lunch in Kilmore Quay which is a beautifully thatched cottage fishing port. If on a day you have just a couple of hours to spare you could spend an afternoon at Johnstown Castle (6km) a victorian castle with its ornamental lakes and gardens - it also has an agricultural museum on its grounds which may be of interest to you. In Waterford (1hr) on 30th June to 3rd July there is a festival which centres around the Tall Ships Race which is unforgettable. Other day trips include Hook Head Lighthouse - after visiting the lighthouse and its rugid landscape you can take a short car ferry trip across the bay to Dunmore East which is beautiful. You could also visit the city of Kilkenny (1hr) which is full of local crafters exhibiting their creations in galleries and shops. Kilkenny has a very large castle off the main street which you can visit and afterwards enjoy Kilkenny's great shopping. There are many more attractions depending on what you like.
