Our house is a family home on the outskirts of a Viking town called Wexford, which is situated in the south-east corner of Ireland.
We are surrounded by the most wonderful sandy beaches, the nearest a 10-minute drive. There are also many places of historical interest to visit. The capital city, Dublin, is a two-hour drive away.
The house itself is a spacious detached 3-bed dormer style, with 4 bathrooms. The main bedroom has a queen size bed,a dressing room and a stylish en-suite with a large shower with tiled seat. This large suite is on the ground floor. The two guest rooms have king size beds with one having it's own shower room, these are upstairs; kitchen/diner, utility room, sitting room, study. All mod cons. Lovely mature gardens surround the house, which is situated in a quiet friendly secure neighbourhood. On the road just outside our estate is the local bus service, which many people use. We will also leave a car for the duration of your stay.Local pub 5 mins down the road,2 large supermarkets less then 10 mins walk. Town center and river promanade 20 mins walk. So the car is only needed for sight-seeing.
We are a married couple in our 50s, with two grown-up children who have long flown the nest. We love to travel and explore, but we particularly like America. We last paid a visit to California in 2005 and stayed for a few days with a cousin of mine who is a red-haired sergeant with the L.A.P.D. and then hired an R.V. to tour. Six-lane highways very exciting!! and we would love to visit and explore again. My wife has a particular fascination for whales!! and the sea in general as she loves to swim, I on the other hand love to cycle around finding little off the beaten track to explore! We have home exchanged before and love to explore other countrys and see how people live in their communities, this is not an experience we have ever gotten from staying in a hotel.
Ours is a quiet residential neighbourhood within a short walk from supermarkets, shops and the town centre.
The town of Wexford has many nice restaurants and a lovely seafront promenade. There are also many places of historical interest to visit, such as the Irish National Heritage Park and Selskar Abbey, a 12th century church. It is the birth place of John Barry, the founder of the American navy. John F. Kennedy's family comes from Wexford and the old homestead is still there.
