Our home is a 4-bedroom apartment in a 3-stories house with large living room and comfortable kitchen. We have lots of toys, boardgames and books (some of them in English), but no TV. In addition, there are music CDs in various genres and a broadband internet (incl. Wi-Fi).
We have 7-8 sleeping places (double bed in our bedroom, 2 regular size single beds and 1 regular size bed that can be opened to another double bed in other rooms, plus 2 smaller size (160 cm) beds for kids), but the home can accommodate another guest or two on a cot or on inflatable mattress.
There is a grocery store and a playground 300m from the house and a bus stop right under it. Coffee-houses and supermarket are within 10 min on foot; mall is within 5 min drive (or bus ride) from the house.
We are Yaroslav and Chana, a young (38) couple with 4 children - a boy Arik (13) and 3 girls: Dina (10), Tamar (7) an Eva (4).
I am a computational linguist and Chana is a psychologist. Our kids like to read and to do sport (competitive swimming). We enjoy spending time with friends, nature and travel. We would like to visit different places in Europe together with our kids.
In 2012, we had 2 great home-exchanges, and enjoyed it very much. Now, we're looking forward for new destinations.
We invite you to visit Haifa, large city on the Mediterranean coast in Northern part of Israel.
A Carmel Center neighbourhood (15 minutes from home on foot / 5 mins by bus) is replete with views of the sea and the port of Haifa, cafes and small shops. There are also Bahai gardens descending to the downtown, Haifa zoo, Cinematheque, a Japanese art museum and more.
Kids and adults alike may be interested in visiting Museum of Science in Haifa, Sea Museum, Carmelite monastery, archaeological museum in Haifa University and open-air archaeological park Shikmona located near the sea.
Descending from the Mount Carmel down, you find yourself on the Haifa beach which connects to coastal nature reserves in the south direction.
Half a hour to hour drive from Haifa (or bus or train ride to some of the locations) are historical attractions from various periods - Caesaria and Tzipori - cities from Roman period, Akko (crusaders citadel of Acre and Turkish/Arabic town) and crusaders castles in Galilee (Montfort and Yehiam) and prehistoric caves on Mount Carmel.
During your stay in Haifa, you can also visit other places in Israel (it being a relatively small country with relative developed public transportation) - Jerusalem (around 160 km by car, under 2 hrs on bus, or some 3 hrs by train with very picturesque mountain railroad), Tel-Aviv (100 km, under 40 min. by train), Kinneret, that is Sea of Galilee or Lake Tiberias (70 km), Dead Sea etc.
