Our home is a little cottage set in the Tuscan hills between Anghiari and Arezzo, suitable for up to four people. The cottage is the old Gamekeepers Lodge, with a typical Tuscan exterior and the inside brought right up to date.
The cottage has a full kitchen, with built in dishwasher, fridge, gas hob and electric oven. It has a separate "lavanderia" which houses the washing machine and a fridge/freezer. The living room has a very efficient pellet stove for cooler evenings.
There are two bedrooms, with ample wardrobe space and two full bathrooms. The second bedroom can be a double or 2 singles depending on your requirements. Outside the property is a large deck for outdoor dining and sunbathing - a wonderful place to enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Within walking distance there is a lovely restaurant, which also has a tiny grocery store inside, selling all the necessities plus a range of typical Tuscan products such as prosciutto, pecorino cheese and of course, local wines.
A short drive away is our local town - Anghiari, which was voted one of the most beautiful towns in Italy and is a great place to enjoy a mid-morning coffee, lunch or some classic Italian aperitivi. An artists paradise, it is also host to regular Artisan markets, where local produce, art and antique stalls can be found alongside the many superb restaurants. There is an abundance of open air music during the summer and, with weekly food markets in the local towns, and wine and olive oil tastings available all over the area, there is always something to do in this wonderful part of the world.
Caprese Michelangelo, the birthplace of Michelangelo, the famous Renaissance painter and sculptor is less than half an hour's drive from the cottage: and Monterchi, home of the famous Madonna del Parto, by Piero della Francesca is about 25 minutes away. There is a wealth of beautiful medieval hillside towns in the area, all with their own story to tell, with stunning churches and excellent restaurants - a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the food and culture of Tuscany.
Luckily most wineries will gladly ship wine anywhere in the world so you can shop to your hearts content as you will probably want to take a little piece of Italy back home with you.
Arezzo, the nearest city, is only 20 minutes away. Siena, Perugia and Assisi are around an hour's drive, and the historic city of Florence is only an hour and a half away. As you can see, the cottage is the perfect base for a relaxing vacation or for a full tour of Tuscany.

Set in a private estate at the top of a hill with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside, yet only 400m from a good restaurant specialising in the famous Fiorentino steak. The restaurant also has a tiny shop inside in case you run out of milk or prosciutto and is open all day for coffee, drinks and food.
