About our home

I offer my very recently restored old house in the pretty village of Calimera, 8miles away from Lecce, less then 10miles from the sea.
There are two bedrooms, and each has it's bathroom, a spacious living room with original 20's floor, modern and equipped kitchen, two private courtyards and a delightful roof terrace where to drink an aperitif at sunset!
The property is well-equipped with internet WiFi, cable TV, DVD player, books, and a barbecue. bicycles are available.
4mt starry vaults keep fresh and pleasant during the hot season..(may to october!)

I've moved to this house in december 2013, so few decoration details and garden are in progress...!!

Tania, an Italian/south-african lady, is my trusted house-keeper, very helpful and kind, will give you any help you need.

my house is situated in the centre of a small village, neverthenless there is no noise, as the house is at the end of a long private courtyard closed with gate.
Calimera's people still speak an old Greek dialect, the "Griko", and keep specific traditions in food, folk music, rituals; this area ( including 9 villages) is called "Grecia Salentina".
In Calimera there is a small but interesting Museum of folk traditions to visit.

We are in Salento area, and Lecce - a major centre of italian Baroque art - is its very beautiful capital. Salento is a scenic stretch of olive groves, charming villages, Byzantin mosaics and frescos, megalithic ruins, superb beaches and soaring cliffs. Bike-riders will have great rides!

We are within a stone’s throw of the Le Cesine WWF parc, Alimini lakes, the fortified towns of Gallipoli and Otranto, and the splendid castles of Corigliano, Acaya and Specchia.
There is something for everyone – from golf at Acaya Golf Club to hydro-therapy in the thermal waters and spa at Santa Cesarea terme. In Gallipoli there are therapeutic baths and hydromassage in a converted olive oil press…
