Venice : large appartment very accessible. largely available from november to march (in summer I rent it on airbnb but some clusters may be avaible)
Pavia : to me the most interresting city in northern Italy. A 60 sq meters appartment walking distance from city center.
Varese: close to Maggiore Lake and the mountains. Milan non far away. Very large appt. modern;
