About our home

I own a charming fully renovated semi-attached Casa Colonica with large garden in the lovely countryside of Lucca, the only city in the world with a walkable intact circle of ancient walls surrounding the town centre. You'll love it: huge rooms, old chestnut beams, high ceilings, old fireplace and stone sink, decorated with a charming mix of antiques and contemporary pieces.

Here is a brief description, just ask for further details:

1) First Floor: 100 sqm.

Elegant 40 sqm large living room with high cathedral beamed ceilings and old original fireplace;
1 40 sqm bedroom with fireplace;
1 16 sqm double bedroom with queen size bed;
1 large bathroom with white ceramic tiles, bath tub ad separate shower.

Hard wood floors, 2 fireplaces, pellet stove.

2) Ground Floor: 100 sqm.

40 sqm fully equipped kitchen and living area with beamed ceilings and door which leads directly out on to private terrace space and garden;
middle sitting room;
one room currently used as a office/studio
one bathroom with blue ceramic tiles with large shower
one room currently used as a large walk-in closet

English Sky Satellite 37'' flat screen Tv, IPod dock station, Wi-fi Internet connection, DVD player.
The beds are really comfortable, down quilts and Frette and Flou linens are provided.

Wonderful South-facing Terrace, about 950 sqm garden and private parking.

In case of SIMULTANEOUS exchange, the whole house will be at your disposal, except the walk-in closet.
In case of NON-SIMULTANEOUS exchange the whole 1st floor + the 40 sqm kitchen downstairs, terrace and garden will be yours (140 sqm totally). I'll keep for my self a part of downstairs, but due to the structure of the house, you'll enjoy total privacy and separate entrance.

More about us

  1. My name is Cynthia, I am a 62 year old American chiropractor and a passionate traveller who enjoys art, theatre and dance. The world is large and I want to experience it all!

  2. I have been living in Italy for more than 20 years and I'm still in love with the beauty of this Country. My dog Spike, a very well-educated Pomerian who I'd like to take in the exchange with me, and my red cat Orlando share this house with me. He is a sweet and shy cat. He requires very little care and will be a discreet roommate.

  3. I'd like to travel for at least 2/4 weeks at a time to oversea destinations, alone or together with a couple of dear friends.

Neighbourhood

Buzzy restaurants
Vino e Convivio: a fantastic Enoteca wine-bar a nice walk away from the house. http://www.vinoeconvivio.com
Cozy cafés
Bar Pasticceria Sottopoggio: the BEST pastry-shop in town. No doubt.
Bit of culture
www.delloscompiglio.org: The aim of the Association is to offer to musicians, performers and dancers the possibility to create their work in an outdoor environment and recreate this as a metamorphosis in the performance and exhibition spaces. They have a wonderful all year long programme, check it out. It is just 3 km away from the house.
Spot of exercise
the neighbourhood is a great spot for joggers and walkers: charming paths among old stone houses and green areas, a treat also for the eyes!
Day tripping
Your choice: mountains? you are 35 min from Castelnuovo Garfagnana. Art? 35 min from Florence. Wanna swim or sunbath? 25 min from Viareggio, Pietrasanta, Forte dei Marmi. Or the fabulous wild south-coast, down to Livorno and Grosseto.
