Dervio is situated in the north of the lake with access from Lecco by road, and a short boat ride from Menaggio and Bellagio by boat. The climate in this part of Lake Como brings gentle breezes to cool the hot summers, and ideal for sailing and windsurfing. In Dervio itself, there are many restaurants and cafes as well as shops and supermarkets.

Dervio is a tranquil town on the north eastern shore of Lake Como and extends into a semicircle on a peninsula in the lake.

The towns on the lake has about 3000 inhabitants (as of 2010), it belongs to the province of Lecco. Dervio located about 25 km north-west of the provincial capital of Lecco and 70 km north of the teeming metropolis of Milan. The neighboring communities are Colico 10 km north and Bellano 4 km south.
Dervio has a large sailing center, railway station and pier with liner connection to the places of Lake Como. Bellagio, Tremezzo , Menaggio, Varenna ).Along the lake is a beautiful, mile-long lake promenade and beaches , lawns, playgrounds, bars, pizzerias, and all the shops for daily needs.

We recommend a trip over the narrow mountain roads into Varrone Valley with stunning alpine scenery and small traditional villages, including Premana (17 km) to the end of the valley, known for its silver work and starting point for beautiful alpine hikes.
See value in town and the surrounding area
The small town on Lake Como is divided into four districts. Borgo, the old fishing village, villa and at higher panoramic location and Castello. There you can still find the remains of a 14th-century tower.

At the southern part of Dervio are the ruins of Castelvedro from 5-6. Century. The fortress stood on a dominant position and from the remains of the walls can imagine how big was once the fortress castle. Part of a defense system at the shore of the lake in order to fend off the incursions of the barbarians from the "Raetia" (Graubünden) can.

At the northern part of the municipality is the old fortified village Corenno Plinio with the mighty castle.
