About our home

This semi-detached house is located in the hills of Santa Maria and is finished to a very high standard - from floor to ceiling wardrobes to Orthopedic mattresses - everything you need to make your stay comfortable has been looked after.

The local beach is a 8-10 minute walk (approx 600m). A short 5min drive to another called Groticelli Beach which is also beautiful. Located in a tranquil and peaceful area, yet only a 10min drive to the beautiful town of Tropea. The house has easy access to all amenities, including a local markets, with a butchers and bakery in Ricardi just 5 min drive away.

The house has a gated entrance to provide you with that additional security. It also has a pool with a shallow end for children, and also a sandy volleyball area.Four pergolas also for shelter off the pool area.

The pool is open from June - Sept.

Capo Vaticano

Capo Vaticano, the last strip of land before the Straits of Messina, thrusts dramatically from the sea.

The sea that caresses the snow-white beaches and the wildness of the rocks make visitors lose their sense of time, as it conceals beneath its waves the secrets of ancient shipwrecks, the relics of which have frequently been discovered. Life in the area is dominated by fishing; its waters are visited by the great swordfish, tuna, blue sharks etc. as they cross the Capo Vaticano every spring. The views from Capo Vaticano over the seas are superb, and on a clear day you can see the top of Stromboli and the other Aeolian islands looming out of the horizon. Mini cruises to the Aeolian Isles depart from Tropea / Capo Vaticano around 7.00am,check out ferry companies Comerci and Tropeamar, which brings you on a daily trip to Stromboli, the famous active volcano.This can also be seen on an evening trip which is amazing
The beautiful Groticelli beach is also a short 5min drive away with lidos and various water activities available.

Activities:
A visit to 'il Faro' a lighthouse along a costal walk / track is a must,its a 5 min drive away,with shops and restaurant along scenic walk.

Parks:
Calabria is a region of outstanding national beauty, with not only beautiful mountains and beaches but national parks. One of the most famous is Sila which is north of Lamezia Terme.
Another is the Aspromonte National park, which is located further south in the Southern strip of Appennine mountains.

Ricadi:
Ricadi is the home of the chipola (red onion) and many locals sell their produce at the side of roads. There is a pharmacy in Ricadi and post office in the villages. The Vibo Shopping Centre is 15 minutes from the apartment in Vibo Valencia where there is a large Spar supermarket and department stores

Tropea:
Tropea is a must when visiting this fabulous with its cobbled streets and beautiful restaurants and amazing views.The Tropea Blues Festival starts in early September.The beach has an island with an unused monastery on it, and on the beach Passo Cavalieri you can rent canoes, jet skies and sail boats. The new marine facilities of Tropea includes all water activities. There are diving schools at the marina of Tropea such as Torre Ruffa Diving Club.
