“The house exchange with Maria and Arnaldo went well from the very beginning. Communication was fluent and they gave us very precise information about every aspect of our staying. Arnaldo came to pick us up to the airport and then took us to the appartment. He provided us with all the information about the house and Florence that we needed and finally we had lunch together. It was a very warm welcoming. Thank you very much!! The appartment is very nice and comfy and only 20 minutes by bus to the city centre. There is also a private garage next door where it is possible to leave the car for 10 euros a day. Amazing experience visiting Florence staying in your house. Thanks again!”
“Maria Adelaide and Carlos were a pleasure to exchange with. Communication was excellent and we loved our time in their place in Florence. Maria Adelaide met us and showed us around and the apartment is well equipped with everything you need. It was a lovely walk to all many areas of town and Florence is a fantastic walking city. The location was also easy access with public transportation as well. Maria and Carlos were perfect guest at our place and it was spotless when we returned. We loved Florence so much! We hope some day to exchange again. ”
“I and my wife were very lucky to have swapped homes with Marie-Adelaide and Arnoldo in beautiful Florence. Their lovely apartment is perfect for a couple, providing everything a visitor to Florence may need. Its location is excellent, with a bus stop some 100 meters from the house that will take you directly to the city center. And even the airport is easy and inexpensive to reach from the apartment: all you need is a €1.50 ticket that is good for both bus No.1 to the city center and the connecting T2 tram to the airport. However, for us, the biggest pleasure was being able to stay in a real and authentic Florentine neighborhood where local residents chat with their neighbors in the street, buy their fruits and vegetables directly from the grocer's pick-up truck, walk their dogs along the romantic Mugnone river, and frequent neighborhood cafes and bakeries. Giovanni Boccaccio street, where Marie-Adelaide's and Arnoldo's cosy apartment is located, actually became our favorite place in the entire city of Florence. You can walk from the apartment not only to the city center (the central San Marco Square with its Accademia Gallery, famous for Michalangelo's David, is less than 2 km or 25 minutes away) but I even ended up walking to the Antonio Franchi stadium , to see a Fiorentina football match, and all the way to the hillside community of Fiesole with its Roman amphitheater, Etruscan walls, and breathtaking panoramic views of the Rennaissance city. I only had to follow Giovanni Boccaccio street in the other direction and, after a scenic hike, first reached the San Dominico monastery and, after slightly over one hour, lovely Fiesole. Florence is such a walkable city that one actually misses much of its beauty when using public transport -- including, for example, the unique street art in the underground passageway at nearby Piazza Le Cure. Marie-Adelaide and Arnoldo are wonderful and caring hosts, making the combination of the city, exchange home, and exchange partners simply unbeatable. Everyone exchanging with them will be just as lucky as we were.”
“Very well located in a nice neighbourhood across from a river, 30min. walk from all central tourist sites or 2 convenient direct bus routes (1A, 1B) to the downtown, train station and (after a transfer via Tram) to the airport (1.50Euros). Good cafes and groceries a short distance away. The apartment is well equipped with WIFI, printer, cooking utensils etc. Hosts are very accommodating with a documented list of information with all the most helpful information (Buses, taxi and emergency numbers etc). As with many European homes a somewhat complicated system of keys and locks that you learn quickly. We were very happy there for 12 days.”
“We have had a wonderful exchange with Maria Adelaide and Arnaldo in Florence. They have been exceptional hosts, very kind, friendly and generous. They have provided us with a lot of information and help to make our stay easy and pleasant. Your apartment is comfortable, very clean and cozy. It is renovated with very good taste making you feel at home. It is only 15 minutes by bus from the center in a safe, pleasant neighborhood to walk and very quiet away from the busy center. It is highly recommended for all people interested in knowing this magnificent city that never disappoints!”
“A great location far enough away from the bustle but an 8 minute bus ride to San Marco. Maria was welcoming and flexible. A lovely week seeing Florence. ”
“Superbe échange, joli petit appartement très bien situé au bord de la rivière Mugnone, à 100 m du bus qui vous emmène en ville en 10 mn. Ne pas faire l’erreur de prendre la voiture pour aller dans le centre historique. Marie Adelaide et Arnoldo, que nous avions déjà eu le plaisir de connaître lorsqu’ils sont venu chez nous en mars sont de hôtes parfaits et charmants. Nous avons adoré notre séjour. Un grand merci.”
“We met Maria and Arnaldo prior to our trip and received lots of useful tips and information about the flat and things to see and do in the area. The flat is just as pictured, comfortable, and is situated about 30 minutes pleasant walk to the Duomo, 10 minutes to the wonderful daily Le Cure market and a quiet and viguourous uphill walk to the lovely hilltop town of Fiesole to explore the Roman ruins and get amazing views of Florence. The flat had everything we needed and the neighbourhood was free of tourists, had some nice shops and restaurants. The foldable bikes came in handy to get down to the Arno, the tourist areas and the lovely Cascine park via useful separated bikepaths. We thouroughly enjoyed the exchange and meeting Maria and Arnaldo.”
Where is it?
It is situated at the bottom of the Fiesole hill (for the lovers there is a superb walk to San Domenico and Fiesole), along the river Mugnone where it is possible to spot Herons and Ducks; it is well connected to the center of Florence and its railway station with a direct bus (1) Wi-Fi, TV, etc.
It is a very typical Italian area, safe and calm, away from the overwhelming tourist crowd.
