About our home

Only available to swaps in Japan because we have a huge volume of requests from places we cannot go to and we only have a limited number of dates ti give it out in. This house is special and furnishings and fabrics are delicate and we need to get to know you a bit before we host.
Wake to glorious views onto Lake Maggiore and surrounding mountains. Beautiful treks, magical villages that appear to have stopped in time. delicious food at charming trattorias. The house is a Capriccio art nouveau, built in 1882 by the great grandfather of my grandmother, when the Italian lakes were a popular holiday resort.

There are 7 rooms in the main building and 3 in the outhouse and the decor has barely changed since (set apart several flights along the years).

The house is not directly on the lake, but on the heights, or the woods bypass the riviera, which means we have beautiful expansive views of the lake. One can also walk down in ten minutes or drive down in three.

More about us

We are fortunate enough to live a peripatetic life, and my partner is quite nomadic by nature. We study natural building materials everywhere we go, and divide our time working at our charity (pakistan, india, bangladesh, refugee projects in London) and creative projects (writing, bamboo building)
Fatima is a journalist by training who founded a charity, Matteo runs an advertising agency.
we like to read/ trek/ wander aimlessly/ currently studying bamboo building techniques and natural weaves.
