trulli

Situated in the countryside of the Valle d'Itria area, our house it's a typical "trullo", one of the UNESCO world heritage sites. Ancient country-house of Puglia, trulli" (the plural of "trullo") are circular limestone buildings with conical roofs, each slightly different in size and shape. Traditionally the walls are built 'a secco' (without mortar) and are up to 2m thick, keeping the interior cool during the hot summers and warm in winter. Our trullo is an quite area but not completely isolated. It is a lovely and peaceful place, with a large ground around the house and a new swimming pool.
The structure is composed of a main house with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, a dining room, 2 sitting rooms.
There's a dependance (composed of 3 trullos) a few meters away from the main house with a separate fireplace and fridge.It can host 2 additional guests plus an additional fold out guest bed.
The trullo is an interesting starting point for different excursions, because it's has a strategic position in the Region.The Adriatic sea with many nice beaches is 15 minutes away by car. Ionian sea with caribbean-like beaches is 40 minutes driving. The beautiful Valle d'Itria small towns with their historical attractions are just few km away: Locorotondo, Martina Franca, Cisternino, Ostuni and the touristic Alberobello.
Furthermore Matera with its well-known "Sassi" it's 1 hour driving, as well as the north of Salento.
The land is full of many other surprises, starting from the hospitality of the people to the very good food (famous "mozzarelle") where the basic local ingredients are able to give a strong personality to each dish.
Finally the climate, during the summer is hot but up on the hills, where trullo is located, there's a fantastic freshness!
