“We had a lovely exchange and spent 3 wonderful weeks in beautiful Sicily in the summer 2016. We agreed to do a non-simultaneous exchange which we have just completed without any problems at all. In fact, we are thinking about doing another exchange in a few years time... This family is very generous and their hospitality is unique. We felt very welcome in their home and they gave us a lot of useful information of things to do and see around Sicily and they also invited us to their private home. It was a great experience and we can definitely recommend this family for exchanging homes!”
“We spent 11 days in Danila and Gianni\'s appartment in Marina di Ragusa. It was a wonderful holiday close to the sea, in a spacious, well located and comfortable appartment. Danila and Gianni are the best hosts you can ever meet: we had such a warm welcome that we did not expect. Thanks to their hospitality you simply feel like home there. Meeting this couple with their lovely daughter Micol and spending some time with them was a very pleasant experience. In general our holiday in Marina di Ragusa was perfect and we hope to remain friends with Danila and Gianni and stay in contact with them.”
“Danila and Gianni are among the most generous and hospitable people I have ever met. Not only did they make their comfortable and spacious beach house in Marina di Ragusa available to me, but – quite unexpectedly -- they offered me to spend two nights in their apartment in the center of the old town of Ragusa, which allowed me to explore this baroque jewel even at night when its grand churches and palaces are beautifully lit. Marina di Ragusa itself is a charming resort town with a beautiful sandy beach and clear water, splendid cafe bars, gelaterias, and trattorias, and a sea promenade (Lungomare) and main square that are teeming with life every evening and provide a unique opportunity to watch authentic Siclian life (you will mostly hear only Italian spoken around you when you visit). But one also sit on one of the two shady terraces of Danila’s and Gianni’s house in a comfortable deck chair and enjoy the warm Sicilian weather and a good book with a glass of Sicilian red in the hand. The nearby fabulous baroque towns of Modica, Scicli, and Noto, as well as ancient Siracusa, are within easy reach even without a car, as the Sicilian public transport system proved to be much better than its reputation. No one who exchanges with Danila and Gianni and visits South-Eastern Sicily will regret his decision. I hope that I will have the opportunity to host Danila, Gianni, and Micol in my apartment in Prague again and will thus be able to at least partially repay their incredible hospitality.”
“We have been two wonderful weeks in South Sicily. Marina di Ragusa is a charming town just near the sea. With a live square were locals meet each other, during day and night, chatting and enjoying good ice reams and, of course, the local famous "Brioches" The new and Very good bicycles and car helped us so much during our holidays. We visited in north Taormina near the Etna, just amazing, we loved this region. In west we visited "Scala dei Turki" a place where our soul can relax mainly at sun set. The nearby Agrigento ruins from Greece times is a must for those we love ancient monuments. But above all in this beautiful holidays, were our hosts Micol, Danila and Gianni. If we have to classify them from 0 to 20....we give 21..... Well why not 22 yes they deserve it. At the end we realize they were not our hosts...they were our new friends..thank you all for your friendship About " birramisu " ...no words...it is a secret Thanks to Gaudenzia, Leila and Francesco...good friends too We Will never forget this holidays...”
“Meeting Danila and Gianni was a pleasant surprise like we can get sometimes in life!!! Can be sure that nobody is so kind, so human, so intelligent than Gianni and Danila. At our first ask, they could not exchange with us but in a second time they purposed us a very cosy and charming house in an old area of the very nice old barocco city of Ragusa. They were very afraid we did not like their house because it was small and old. Why? Their house was perfectly renovated, comfortable and full of charm. We enjoyed it very much. It was so fresh during this warm June month. At the first floor a little terrace was nice to have the breakfast and dinner in the evening. Easy to visit the old city of Ragusa walking. What to say about their welcome? So amabile: flowers, a walk, a dinner and the presence of past exchangers we swapped with, one year ago in Porto: what a surprise to meet Paulo and Margarida in Ragusa!!! Anyway a very wonderful swap... With very kind Gianni and Danila. We are pleased to continue communicating with them on Facebook.”
“I wish to strongly recommend the home of Danila and Gianni. To exchange homes with Danila and Gianni turned into a wonderful, sincere and delightful experience. Upon arrival we were welcomed by a generous and creative couple who not only opened their beautiful home to us, but also brought friends, family and their hearts to the table. We did a non-simultaneous exchange, which meant that Danila and Gianni were in Sicily while we were there. We were invited to take part in their local easter festivities. We were able to see, taste, hear and experience life in Sicily from the inside. While we were free to make our own excursions, the openness of Danila and Gianni made this stay very special. We have not just exchanged homes - we have exchanged culture and life itself. Danila and Giannis home is beautiful, practical, everything works as it should. The house is meticulously clean, and has all amenities as promised. The walk down to the centre of Marina di Ragusa takes you 5 minutes and will also bring you to a great beach. We were there in the beginning of April, just as the village was awakening after the winter slumber. This suited us fine, but if you wish to see the pulsating life of Marina - you should probably visit in the summer season. Marina is situated so that you can easily travel to many of the wonderful UNESCO sites that lie within 1-2 hour drive. Danila and Gianni has recently visited us in our home in Norway. The exchange was effortless. All practicalities worked out easily and effortlessly, and above all - we were already friends, and it was entirely our pleasure to have them here. Gro and Thomas”
“We just spent 3 wonderful weeks in the spacious and clean home of Danila Burrafato and family. Everything worked out just great. The car was available for us at the airport and when we arrived at the destination we were met by a friend who showed us around in the apartment and made sure we were comfortable. The location of the house was perfect, a 5 Min. walk from the beach and grocery stores right on hand. In Marina di Ragusa, there were always things going on. The town-square was lively from the morning on, people of all ages strolling around, having a chat with friends or enjoying their meal, coffee and icecream. In the evenings there were arrangements, dance, song or music almost every night. People from 0 to 90 were all out having a good time together. Nightlife was going on till 2-3 am. The beach was beautiful, sandy with lovely waters. Crowded from early morning, less people around siesta time. In the evening, the promenade along the beach was changed into a festive area with cafes, restaurants and sales stalls. Within half an hours drive, there are Ragusa, Sicilia and other baroque cities on Unescos world heritage list. Really worth a visit. There is still a lot to tell about this place, but you better go there and look for yourself. Definitely recommendable. We loved it!”
