There are few days where I don't think: "what a pleasant and homely flat"! Our apartment is bright and spacious, with a triple exposure.
It is just outside of the old Aurelian walls marking ancient Rome, in the San Saba area. From there, you can walk to Circo Massimo in 15 min or reach the Colosseo in 25. Alternatively, you can also walk 5 min to one of the many nearby stations and hop on the metro (line B, Piramide or Lido train), the train (Ostiense), the tram or one of the many buses. With public transport, you will have direct connections to the city centre, the seaside, Ostia Antica, the Vatican and Fiumiccino Airport.
Within a 15 min walking distance radius, you will also find many good restaurants (we are happy to make recommendations) and the largest Eataly in the world.
The flat is very comfortable and was recently refurbished. It also has a large balcony with a view on a beautiful villa.
It is on rather noisy street but there are double-glazed windows which perfectly insulate the flat from noise. There is heating in the winter but only at specific times of the day, so the flat can be cold during the working hours in the colder months (November-February).
We are comfortable with children staying over but we did buy some nice furniture for the living room and expect guests to be considerate in the flat.
The flat is non-smoking but you can smoke on the balcony.
We have a parking spot but use it for our car most of the time. However, we may be able to arrange parking for people if requested. Please let us know.
My husband, Gabriel, and I love to travel together. We travel a lot for work, to remote and sometimes difficult places such as Laos, Niger and Mali. For holidays, we prefer to take it easy and enjoy beautiful architecture and delicious meals! No wonder we love Rome :)
We met in Paris and then moved to Ethiopia for 2 years and eventually to Rome, Italy, which we now call home.
We both work for the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, as economists.
We are at the crossroad between different neighbourhoods: the village-like San Saba with little houses and green spots, Testaccio with its lively community, Roman trattorias and bars and Ostiense, which is more convenient for shopping and other types of restaurants.
You can also walk 15 min to the Aventine, one of my favourite neighbourhoods in Rome. There, you can stroll among gorgeous villas until you reach the Giardino degli Aranci, with one of the most beautiful views in the city. In the spring, the rose garden nearby is worth a visit.
